Macro TIPS and TRICKS in spring woodland (Tutorial with lighting, focus stacking)

In this week's tutorial, I show how I use both LED and flash lighting in my macro photography, along with the best tips and tricks I use for adding easy creative ideas to images. I also show how I focus stack macro images, including the settings I use to get sharp shots.
I also have a thoroughly good time exploring a woodland near Edinburgh's busy coast where new life is starting to spring up all over the place.

Wow, I did find this amazing Andrew, that auto focus stacking is incredible a lot easier then the way I have to do it hahahahaa. Some really great images and I did like the use of the LED light. Many thanks for sharing your tips and tricks

I've been out and about trying similar shots myself this week. I am nothing but jealous that your camera has focus bracketing built in, I can't tell you how much back ache has been involved doing even 10 shots and manually refocussing! Not got any mushrooms our way yet - but I have followed your advice about the lighting from previous videos and picked up a rechargeable LED lamp, and it works brilliantly (even to the point of faking sunlight)

Hello there, Andrew. I love all of these shots. The cluster shots at 15:13 were really great. The shot at 7:17 was so beautiful. I really liked the shot at 12:30. The shot at 17:05 is my favorite. This video, more than any other, and I’ve thought this many times, makes me wish I could go along with you on one of these trips. You find the most interesting spots. I so look forward to your videos each week. As soon as I see the notification I stop what I’m doing and watch. I think my camera will do that focus bracketing but I’m having trouble figuring it out. I’m going to spend some time today working on understanding how to use it. I’m heading to Rocky Mountain National Park second week of June and hope to find some mushrooms there. Maybe some cool picture opportunities with snow and spring combined. The fungi/mushrooms I find here in Delaware are so beautiful but it is always in protected areas where I cannot walk to get close enough to shoot macro shots. while in RMNP I will be hiking to several lakes within the mountains there so I’m crossing my fingers for some opportunities. I wish you used my camera so I could learn how to use more of the features that would benefit macro photography. Anyway. I’m so thankful I bumped into your work more than a year ago now. Hi Andrew - I recently got back in to macro photography after many years, and I am really enjoying your videos. I have a question regarding focus stacking. Why not just take one picture at f2.8 for the nice blurry background and then a shot at say f16, that you only apply on the subject using a mask? Unless f16 doesnt give the desired depth of field, I don't really see the point in focus stacking multiple photos with wide open aperture? What am I missing here 😁?

Hi. Diffraction causes the image to get softer at higher f-stops. So what people do to get around that is take multiple images at a lower f-stop which you can then focus stack in software. The resulting image will be significanlty sharper.

Hi, you lost me a bit. You set up a 35 pix shot that ran auto? If I understand correctly you set point 1 closest, point 2 farthest away, set image quantity and the camera will divide that distance equally and shoot? I ger stacking, is this an automatic, 1 button press operation?
