Surely Macron should be negotiating with the NFP, getting concessions from NFP in return for confidence and supply support
@RadicalCavemanАй бұрын
Whoever is made Prime Minister won't have the support of a majority, so Macron's argument is absurd. If there would be a no-confidence vote, it would be at Macron's behest.

First of all, macron is not a centrist and the front is not popular. Meanwhile i challenge you to define the so called ‘far right’. Thats one problem. The other is that non compliance to the demands of the socialists is represented here as an affront to democracy? Right you are. It doesnt make sense. But i also know why

@@azurebadger no… the *treasonous* one in this scenario is quite obviously *Macron.* The facts suggest the NPF *is willing* to work with the renaissance party. The renaissance party is the party that refuses to work with the NPF, the party that won the election. The “centrists” are the ones unwilling to work with the left. Which then shows that the “centrists”, the renaissance party, are *CLEARLY* being the *anti-democratic obstructionists* in this case. Which obviously makes the *“centrists” both treasonous, and authoritarian.* Your argument literally makes 0 sense. *The NPF* is undoubtedly the party that *won the election,* & it is *normal democratic* process to let them *pick a prime minister,* after *winning the general election.* To not let them pick a prime minister is again, *refusing to certify a fairly-won election.* This is literally the most anti-democratic & *authoritarian* thing possible a government can do. Vote of no-confidence, or no vote of no-confidence, the NPF should have already been allowed to select a prime minister & should be in office by now. It’s just the process. If they are unhappy with this election, they should vote no confidence, and hold another election. It’s *obstructionist* and frankly… morally wrong.

Over 70% of French voters didn't vote for the leftwing alliance, in fact RN's alliance came first in votes. Nobody won enough seats to govern. The French parliament is deadlocked until the next election - in just under a year most likely.
@RadicalCavemanАй бұрын
No matter which party you're talking about, a majority voted against them. The vote you're citing is from the first round. In the second round, the left did much better, and that's what determined the balance in Parliament.
@jamesevans1890Ай бұрын
@@RadicalCaveman Hi, the Left alliance did WORSE in vote terms in the 2nd round - 25.8% down from 28.2%. The RN alliance gained in the 2nd round - 37% up from 33.2%. Of course the NFP and RN won about 70 seats between them in the 1st round which didn't vote again in the 2nd round.
@spg56582 ай бұрын
If a coalition doesn't include the RN Party then I don't see how you get to a majority. I can't see Macron's Party forming a coalition with the Popular Front so that leaves this in limbo for a while.
