As a little kid back in the 80's, I've always wanted one of these but I could never afford it... They were really expensive toys because they were imported, and they're transformable. Almost robbed a store once cuz I wanted one so badly! 💰💰💰

I watched the entire Robotech series last year, I have it on DVD, I haven't seen much other macross stuff, other than fansubbed Macross Zero. I think you've just convinced me into buying one of these figures once and for all.

Awesome review. I found this from someone for $35 it was very very slighty used. They may have taken it out twice it that. I too remember it being very hard to find any of the RoboTech toys as a kid. I do remember however that MatchBox had a few in the 80's not many. And then in the 90's MatchBox made a few more with their Exo Sqaud series. On the boxes it had Exo Sqaud RoboTech. I actually had a few of those. Wished I still had them though.

LoL, "Big Box" as Macross toys go this is one of the smaller boxes! XD You should see the 1/48 scale's, they didn't even try to save space! The detail up looks brilliant. I'm still way to scared to go near any of mine with a Gundam marker or pencil I've been meaning to do an unboxing.. you can actually buy this toy as a Kit!!! and It's fantastic! all the parts are in bags like a resin kit. It's the exact same, but you get to build it. Plus its completely white for customization...JETFIRE!

Hello Vegeta very cool review as usual. Hey have you had any problems with the shoulder hinges? I recently ordered a Roy Focker VF-1S Strike Valkyrie myself and now I'm kinda worried about it. I treat my toys gently, but I do like playing with them every once in a while and apparently there's a lot of people saying their shoulder hinges broke or got cracks after transforming their yamato's an X number of times...

Macross is not a giant robot series, that, the giant robot (30m height or above), was dated back to '70 with anime such as Mazinger Z. Macross (early '80) and Gundam (late '70) are both under 20m height, and are realistic robot series.

I have all the macross plus yamato 1/60 figures and i would haft to say they very nice but they set me back a few bucks :/ but well worth it if you are a fan of macross plus.

I have to ask: how did you add the red navigation lights on the leading and trailing edges of the wings? Home-printed decals? Really accurate paint job? "Borrowed" them from the 1/48 scale VF-1S? Because however you did it, it looks damn impressive and really adds a lot of depth to the model, especially by enhancing (or, more accurately, downplaying) the panel lines.

It's when you compare same-scale Valkyrie fighters to Gundams that you notice how ridiculously (and slightly improbably) small the RX-78's Core Fighter is xD I have a Revoltech Tranformable VF-1s Valkyrie and i'd say it's about 1/100 scale. Looks great next to a MG, but put a Core Fighter next to it and it's just laughable how small it is... (not to mention the lack of cockpit room in there in comparison!)
