You always impress me with your attention to detail and the neatness if your work. Many people don’t recognize the importance of neat work until it cones time to troubleshoot. My old trade school instructor would be pleased. He always emphasized to us apprentices to do our work in a neat and workmanlike manner. Hope we get to see more on site videos.

Yep especially after seeing the mess of wires in our network cabinets at the schools I work at. I'm an IT tech for a school district. I spent many hours about 3 years ago cleaning up the cabinets at 2 sites. They're not pretty, but they look much better than when I started. Its one of my summer projects, but we have too many other projects going on and I feel we're very understaffed relative to the amount of projects we have.

If I had that job, I think I would have convinced the Project Manager (probably just one of the Doctor's) to buy and have installed (using different cabling paths) backup CAT-6 cables to each outlet in all critical ares. I managed the Network install of my Brother-In-Laws medical office (as a favor with no Pay). About 6-months later, a fan in one of the Air Conditioner vents was replaced, and they accidentally cut (and pulled-out for some reason) four of the CAT-6 cables, resulting in the loss of network for two Doctors on their Office Desktops (fortunately redundant using WiFi), and connectivity to their CT Scan and one X-Ray room. It took almost a week to get everything back up by running/replacing the runs (once again gratis on my part and also leading to injury on one of my knees - however there were many doctors and 'easy to look at' Nurses around to help). Lesson Learned, unless the 'easy to look at' is considered a bonus.

Nice job! One recommendation for mounting the equipment. Put the screws in the bottom holes and not diagonal or the top. As gravity holds the top. Plus its a good habit for when you put taller than 1RU items in as it eliminates any torquing and twisting of the equipment.

Hi Kodi, I really love your unifi videos, I was wondering if you could make a video on unifi protect, access and talk multi site management (having same credentials and permissions that work between different sites with different dream machines or UNVR or cloud keys). Basically the setup is going to be to have a user be able to use their door access credentials in different offices and can call a different site/office with and internal extension through talk.

How do you have an AI Theta camera behind the desk? HIPPA regulations prohibit that as it can pick up personal and private data on computer monitors. for the door access, is that a back door to the office, or the network room? Did you install the emegency push to exit system too for fire code? Also for fire code in your area, are you allowed to power fail CLOSED for the lock, or do you have to power fail to OPEN?...actually, nevermind on thqat, lol, the push bar meets that requirement where in an emergency users can push bar to open door leaving the mag lock fail CLOSED for security.
@MactelecomNetworks
@MactelecomNetworks Жыл бұрын
With any Unifi camera you can have privacy zones so it totally blocks out certain areas ( like computer screens). For Unifi access there is a push paddle on the door so you can always exit no matter what. We never install maglocks but if you do you most definitely need to have some fail safe set

New sub here. Great content. Great explanations and super-clean installs. It should be you with 15 mil subs, not the Linus guy. Food for thought to consider going forward. We are fast getting to the point where camera resolution will be sufficient to capture details in documentation (either on paper or computer screens) to the point that it is considered PHI (protected health information) as per HIPAA. Storage of PHI opens up a whole can of worms, and the fines for violating HIPAA are mindblowing. This is unlikely to be an issue for the current gen of Unifi Protect cams. But no question it becomes an issue within two years. Bottom line is that I wouldn't want to be the test case.

HDMI over Cat 6 is so much more reliable than HDMI extenders, once you break 50ft you either need HDMI over fiber or CAT6, you can alternatively inject 5v into HDMI over 50ft for the signal to reach, but not really an ideal solution.
@JJFlores197
@JJFlores197 Жыл бұрын
Yep. I had to install one of those about a month ago at one of the schools I work at. We got a new interactive display to install and the existing HDMI run apparently failed while we were testing it. It was easily a 25 ft run. We happened to have an HDMI over CAT6 extender and a direct ethernet connection from a nearby wall port to where the display was. Only issue is there were 2 ethernet cables dangling from the ceiling tile and of course, they weren't labeled.
