Great to see you all together, very enjoyable video, thanks guys. I'd like to think, as is in my case, as well as bringing in completely new people to the hobby, hopefully TT has renewed some peoples interest, who used to have 00 gauge years ago, but let the hobby fade. I never thought I'd get back in to model railways, but here I am again with TT :)

Thanks for an interesting discussion. My 4 year old grandson is mad about trains and plays for hours with his Brio stuff. We noticed at Thomas train events he also took a real interest in model train displays. This prompted me to look at getting a set for myself and that he could enjoy too. If it wasn’t for TT120 I don’t think I’d be going very far with this, but the ability to get a decent varied layout on an 8x4 board has sold TT to me. I’ll be getting an Elite controller so that my grandson, and my granddaughter (and my daughter) can all enjoy playing with the trains themselves, rather than trying to use my phone. A rotary control knob is much easier for young ones to use. Tempering theirs, and my, patience is the main problem for now.

Great to hear that Mark. Yes, our kids loved the Brio stuff too.

Very enjoyable gentleman thank you. I watch all 3 of your channels and appreciate all your time and efforts. I do think that we pay too much attention to the minority and negative views regarding TT. Build a bridge and get over it. End of chat. 👍

Too modern for me and too long for my tight curves I suspect - but still it would be a fantastic prototype to see modelled in TT.

I have the same wishes as Peachy, a steam engine, smaller and multi function would be great. And HM7000 included of course ...
@mactrains7 ай бұрын
The J50 is next out - due before the end of the year. But so far there's no HM7000 chip to fit it - also due later this year.
@pim12347 ай бұрын
@@mactrains Indeed, it is anounced ! Do you think a 6 pin hm7000 with sound will be possible ?
@mactrains7 ай бұрын
Eventually yes, but not for at least a year or two I suspect.

Joes comment was good about negativity. We tt120 users in the 3mm society initially had a lot of negativity. however from the committee came the point was there was room for both and as a result we have gained many more members who model both. caroline.

I think the 3mm folk have responded really well. Thanks again Caroline

Comments on the points raised - a) I doubt there is enough demand for a Thomas range in TT given the existing Bachmann OO range and the design considerations for very small hands etc.. The design effort by Hornby would be better spent expanding the TT range to cover the best selling models which they will know what they are from their experience in OO. Plus they will ensure their dominance in TT. b) I hope it is a way of offering something different beyond UK prototypes and would like to see US and European locos in a way that the Tri-Ang catalogues of the 60’s portrayed. Plus it would bring together Hornby’s other brands with same scale models and hopefully appeal to foreign markets. Rather than having HO models on a OO layout it would be amazing to have a consistent scale/gauge. c) For new starters to the hobby in their 20’s I think they would be best to start with TT, as long as they are prepared to wait for the range to expand. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before other manufacturers will launch models. And being first has all the risk. d) For Hornby I think they need to focus on the popular locos such as Class 60, Class 47, Merchant Navy, Terrier etc. and in pretty much all cases include HM7000 capability. Before the competition get there. e) For me, I would like to have a TT layout set behind OO with perspective making it appear in the distance. Assuming that works? Early days but all very interesting!
@mactrains7 ай бұрын
Thomas for TT - I thought this would raise more comments, but you're the first! Though I think Peachy could have happily strangled me... Mixing up with USA and other prototypes would make some sense, at least once the UK is a bit better covered. I think some have tried to mix TT and OO are you suggest. It's early days but I think @Shedmouth Junction were doing something like that.

For me the 47 is the big omission . I know it's coming . I'd have done it instead of the 50 though . For me a Blue Grey layout could have been possible with 08. 37. 47 and HST . Add in a Met Camm dmu and it's sorted . Hornby have made mistakes concentrating on steam before to the detriment of diesels . I don't think Simon Kohler really understood BR Blue - just big LNER pacifics and pullmans . While at least Martin Weaver recognises more modern stuff sells . TT120 ideal for multiple units
@mactrains7 ай бұрын
The 47 should be great when it comes - think of it this way - the 50 allows them to get the 47 just perfect when it comes!
