After seeing Fast and Furious 8 in theaters during 2017, I read a couple of reviews about the movie. The reason that they chose Charlize Theron was, because of her work on 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road movie. I didn't know what movie was about, because I only saw clips of it on TV and KZbin and didn't have much of an interest in it. Last year, when I saw the trailer for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, looked very interesting, and I thought it was the second movie until I did my research and learned that it was actually the 5th movie in the franchise. The first three movie came out in the late 70's and early 80's, the fourth movie drove into theaters in 2015. I haven't seen any of the movies yet, but I can always find the Mel Gibson movies at Zia Records.

@Mad_Max_World6 ай бұрын
Him being born in the citadel is more of a plot hole instead of a timeline hole. Judging by the comics, Nux (a warboy from Fury Road) was born outside the Citadel, and then later he got recruited inside. I guess the rest of the war boys got recruited the same way. Citadel was already some kind of industrial water pump station built over an aquifer. Nearby lead mine (later called "buller farm") and an oil refinery ("gastown") had already workers living localy, and some of the members of the gang who occupied the citadel (before Immortan took it from them) can be seen wearing yellow construction helmets. When Immortan killed these people, it is higly likely he spared children and their innocent parents living around (at least he did that with the previos gangs he destroyed in the comics). So to make story short - war boy in Furiosa could be born there, but not in a way we think

I have a question. I think Miller stated the time passed roughly between the movies of the original trilogy. By looking at the interceptor in the Furiosa Cameo, could it not be the same interceptor before the crash in Road Warrior? Cause it feels like tons of time passes from the moment Furiosa is saved by Max and when they meet again in Fury Road. I mean Dementus gets a pretty large peach tree growing out of him and Furiosa turns from Anya to Charlize... That takes time...
@Mad_Max_World6 ай бұрын
Well, Miller is becoming known for saying one thing and then switching to another answer when asked the same question by different interviewers. I've seen him first say that the Furiosa movie takes place within 15 years, and then later change his answer to 18 or 19 years. The detail you noticed about the peach tree is true-Google says it takes between 2 to 4 years for a peach tree to grow. For that reason, the 40-day war likely finished around 15 years after Furiosa was kidnapped, plus a few more years for the peach tree to grow and the events of Fury Road to start. This gets us to approximately 7,000 days, or 19 years, since Furiosa was kidnapped ( her own words in Fury Road ). Regarding the question about the Interceptor-judging by the comics, it's not the same Interceptor from Road Warrior. In fact, Max started building it again in MM3. The carriage at the start of that movie, with camels, had parts of his new Interceptor - but we don't see it. George Miller actually had an idea in the '80s to tell the story of Max rebuilding it by making a TV show, but it eventually got canceled.
@karlisdrukteins79626 ай бұрын
@@Mad_Max_World Yeah. I think the bulk of the Furiosa movie is 15 and then, in the end we have this 4ish year time skip before leading into Fury Road. I guess Furiosas comic also fits into that time window. What really interests me is, will Millers next prequel be the retelling of the “year before” Max storyline be the same as the comic. Cause technically we already would fully know what happens, and besides Miller knows that the video game story, though not canon still spoils a lot of stuff. What gives me hope that the max prequel is actually something else than the Hope & Glory story is: 1. Miller stated it’s a year before Fury Road, and in Fury Road Max has long hair and beard, which takes time to grow. While at the end of the Max prequel comic he is still just with short hair. About a year to grow that? For myself - definitely. 2. I think part of the poetry of this new trilogy, is how directly the prequels lead into Fury Road and make rewatching Fury Road more powerful. I think this theme will return in the next film. + Max is truly Mad in the beginning of Fury Road. What happened? There must be something there…

@@Mad_Max_World The artwork is really good, though. I've just never understood why graphic designers - and I say this as a graphic designer - feel the need to "flop" images when they slap them onto box art or posters. Directors do it in movies too. As much as I love Sam Raimi, I have to levy the legit crit that he overuses that "flopping" technique. If that's even a "technique." Directors usually favor the forest over the trees. They tend to be "big picture" thinkers. Contrast with us, the audience members, who pick up on nitty-gritty details with a Columbo-like mindset. It explains why directors have a different concept of "continuity." What they think fixes continuity actually ruins it for the audience. They're more concerned with which side of the screen an actor's face is on, whereas we're more concerned with the details of the actor's face. So if they're wearing an eye patch over their right eye, then the next scene is "flopped" so it looks like the eye patch is over their left eye, we might feel insulted by that.

I’m not really a fan of the retconned timeline from the comic, the only issue here is Max’s age- which can be explained away by the whole “campfire myth” concept, or an exaggerated and/or inaccurate interpretation of the story. Behind the scenes, Fury Road was originally intended for Mel Gibson, hence the age discrepancy- but the film eventually turned into a (soft) reboot starring Tom Hardy, there’s a lot more information on this out there if you want to know- check out Mad Max Bible here on KZbin. @@ultraviolet540 Good comment. I am aware of the years you mentioned, and comics as you noticed, tried to connect these timelines, and my video is based on the comics. We simply have to ignore the exact years and follow the very first sentence from Mad Max 1: "a few years from now.". George Miller as well went away from the strict years he used in the original trilogy, and goes with that narrative - apocalypse from now. Of course that the older MM movies were based in the 80's, as well as Fury Road in the 2030's. It wouldn't be as fun if Fury Road was based in the 80's as well. But guess what? Batman filmed in the 60's has the same story as the Batman from the Bale/Pattinson era; the only difference is the year they were filmed in. You won't find the exact year in those movies that the story takes place, and even if you do, it's not important. They all follow the same line, and the same should be adapted to Mad Max. The story that happened to Mel's Max is the same story that happens to Tom Hardy's Max (being cop in the past (intro from Fury Road), Humungus, Tina Turner etc.)

Mad Max are not films that seek to imagine what our future could be. Mad Max 1 takes place as much in an alternate reality as in “a few years”. From 2, the creation of the Wasteland is more the creation of a magical world, outside of our reality, it is the world of stories... Absolutely wanting to find a timeline, putting dates, it's Nice fanfiction, but it misses what the films are about. Mad Max 1 is a biker film, Mad Max 2 is a film that arises from the Iran-Iraq conflict, it is an allegory of this era. Mad Max 3 incorporates the nuclear question because it was the one that occupied people's minds at the time, Fury Road and Furiosa tackle other subjects, water, humanity... Beyond that, we have for example a date in Mad Max 1: MFP established in 1983. But Furiosa's History Man has a "wifi" logo written on his jacket... Miller changed the nature of the wasteland and its links with our times from a movie to another, so... All this to say that Mad Max is not Soleil Vert which sought to predict what our world could be like 50 years later, absolutely wanting to create a timeline is a fun exercise, but futile.

But Max loses his V8 black interceptor in Max Max 2, destroyed by Lord Humungus's gang, so how could he be looking for parts after that? Also, I don't see how Fury Road can take place after Max Max 3, as Max is clearly portrayed as being significantly older in 3 than Fury Road. Seems like Max Max 3 takes place quite a few years after Fury Road.
@Mad_Max_World6 ай бұрын
Well, in the Mad Max comics, it's noticeable that Max was scavenging for parts for his new Interceptor (I've included those scenes in the video). For example, the original idea behind Max's chariot (the one we see with camels at the start of Mad Max 3) was to carry those parts. George Miller even had an idea back in the '80s to continue Max's story with a TV show. Episodes of that show would be about Max collecting those parts and doing small side quests. Fury Road comes after MM3 simply because George Miller decided so after he created the story for the comics together with Mike Sexton. Btw, Mel Gibson’s portrayal of an older Max is funny since he was only 28 during filming, while Tom Hardy was around 34.
