Inherently it's going to be different for her than the men. Especially since the men didn't get boxed in as easily for their looks (inside and outside their office). The Irene Dunn comment was sweet but outdated and probably not something Peggy would find that much comfort in. But what you seem to forget is that men were qualified by their monetary power, and still are to be honest. Is this sexism too? The different evaluation the opposite sex does is sexism? Let's be honest. The concept of "sexism" has been stretched to a point were you can classify anything that can be considered "negative" done by a man to a woman as sexism.

the irony is the men who laugh at Peggy being unattractive i.e. Kinsey and Kenny both had made a pass at (well, sexually harassed, but they wouldn't see it that way) Peggy when she was new in the office - its essentially sour grapes. the ones who don't laugh at and rebuff the "peggy is unattractive" joke all never once crossed that line with her, though they had greater opportunity and power over Peggy (Don because he's her direct superior and Freddy because he was her mentor). i think this was completely intentional, and part of the commentary around sexual politics and objectification of women in this episode.

When a woman walks into a bar, she too looks for the most beautiful woman--to see her competition. Of course, not everyone is looking for attention. Men do have girdle options. Women should understand inappropriate comments are a double standard. Women can get away with them far easier today than men. Once, in a conference room, two female colleagues suggested I be the meat in the sandwich. Everyone heard it and no one said or did anything. I found it highly inappropriate for the workplace and if the tables were reversed, I would have been shitcanned.

The unfortunate reality is that women complain more, and they are also in male dominated workplaces more often. We have to start holding women accountable for posterity’s sake if nothing else. This isn’t to say that they won’t just write off or deny the comments they made about you or another man tomorrow.

Have you heard how men talk about women ? Meat in the sandwich is nothing compared to the disgusting shit men say about women.

Excited to see your portfolio of successful products. Pointing to something after it goes viral is easy. Calling the shot beforehand is the hard part.

A bra campaign and you had a woman in the room but you didn't get her input? Cluelessness writ large.

She would have been the first person I asked for input, especially since the woman is the consumer.

I think you missed the point. The main writer did this show to expose this era and expose especially boomers and older generations.
