An interesting to note about Harley is that when she went to the asylum to write a book about a psychopath (Which ended up being The Joker, obviously) is wasn't just to make a quick buck. Her father had abandoned her and her family for a life of crime, so Harley had to grow up fast in order to help her family. This is definitely shown with how she's a completely different person before she becomes a villain. She wasn't childish and was much more reserved and mature. The Joker represented not only someone who could make her laugh, but also criminal that she wanted to both give and receive the love that her father deprived her of. That also explains why she ended up becoming childish and ditzy, she's psychologically trying to regain the childhood that she never had because she had to grow up. So this really adds to her adorable insanity and her unhealthy relationship with The Joker. Also, stating the OBVIOUS, Harley Quinn is absolutely AWESOME! And I believed this WAY BEFORE Suicide Squad came along.

I have always loved Ginger from Chicken Run. Protagonists (especially in kids movies,) can be pretty boring sometimes compared to the villains, but Ginger is an example of a simple, good, and kind-hearted character done right, mainly because, even though she's a sweet character, she doesn't take any crap.

I love Pinkie Pie and Jane Porter, I saw Disney's Tarzan multiple times in the theater when I was 10, I really liked seeing Jane. I thought Jane was just lovely and sweet in in her tank top and skirt.

About the Joker, it's not just you XD don't worry. Got to say that one of the first character to come to mind for me aside from these ones is Nani from Lilo and Stitch. She's both serious and funny, both looks and acts like a pretty realistic young woman and big sister, and when I realised the full extent of what she's done to protect Lilo I wanted to cry. It didn't even occur to me back when the movie first came out that she's only supposed to be around 19 because she's had to be such an adult figure. Also yesssss a lot of people have forgotten Chicken Run. I love that movie and Ginger's intelligence and spunk really make the movie (that and Babs being adorably oblivious).

I can't believe I'm only just now finding your channel. It started out with just a random appearance in my youtube feed, and now I'm hooked. It's kind of also rekindled my love for MLP. That's the thing, quite often especially with female characters their design overshadows their personality. I aim to look at characters without being distracted by their designs, and for an artist that is quite difficult to do.

Yeh, it was just a joke tbh, I know what the pronunciation is, I had a lot of arguments with fans of the show about it. I think 'lied' came from the poem the starter and main theme song lyrics are based on which I think is sung in latin, though I could be wrong.

Psychology was my minor at University. What I meant was that it seemed you were trying to say that Lucy was only on my list because she's nude half the time. The design of a character, or physical appearance should not be the reason why a character is admired. They should be admired because of their personality, their traits and their arcs through their story. Lucy has this in spades. 'Real life' does matter to me.(that made me lol). I'm not as delusional as I may appear. :)

Anime could have overwhelmed this list, and one of my faves is Gina from "Porco Rosso". We see her as a Woman of Mystery, and we learn that all three of her husbands are aviators who died. We learn that she runs her hotel, and sings in the restaurant, and has a strange espionage thing going on the side; and had her sexual awakening when as a teenager she and Porco--back then a human named Marco--first flew in a Wright Brothers style prototype airplane. She takes no nonsense from Curtis--who I'm convinced was Miyazaki's parody of Ronald Reagan--and despite her melancholy shading of her life is totally in control. One of Ghibli's most adult anime.

Winry is awesome, both in the original Fullmetal Alchemist, and in the more manga faithful Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Also, 90s animated Harley Quinn was great. She really showed how much The Joker would use people to his own ends, and the depths of insanity The Joker could drive someone to, if he really tried.

I think in one comic its revealed (rather subtly) that the joker actually loves harley, but he doesn't quite understand that emotion and therefore straps her to a rocket and launches her into the air. I'm not entirely sure if that was canon or not? If I'm wrong feel free to tell me, (anyone who does please don't be a jerk about it.)

Interesting choices. I am a little confused why you disliked Mac in Chicken Run for being a Scottish stereotype... she's voiced by Lynn Ferguson (Craig Ferguson's sister) who actually is Scottish. Of course, I suppose the dialogue itself might have been tipped a bit more towards the stereotype than necessary, so to each her own. Nice list, MM.
