Mad Rock Drone Comp Series Shoe Review

Thanks for putting out this review! Not much impartial info out there yet on the Drone CS. Do you feel a difference in terms of flex between the original Drone and these? Are these supposed to be softer?

I think these are a bit softer yeah! Especially after wearing them for another month or so now I’d say!

@ I was afraid of that. My daughter is looking for her first more aggressive shoe. I’d like her to try a bunch on so she knows what to expect, otherwise I might take a chance on the Shark 3.0 LVs. But return shipping (that isn’t Prime) is something I’d rather avoid.

Did you feel there was a noticeable difference in the width of the toe box from going to LVs to HVs?

Yeah it’s a bit roomier but I didn’t notice a huge difference to be honest with you.

They're meant to be the "soft" version of the drone right? When do they feel soft, I have a pair and they still feel stiff AF a month in compared to my instinct vsr's. Personally these are so different to the drone 1.0s which imo are the best shoe I've worn in a while

The rubber is softer and stickier but I think because it has a plate in the midsole that helps keep the downturned shape that is going to keep feeling firm throughout the lifecycle of the shoe.

Anyone know how the heel cup feels? I love the old drone hv`s but the heel cup of em are a little bit too low/small and my heel pops out if I pull too hard.

My opinion: the heel feels better on these than the original drones. Might be a sizing thing too but you do you boo

I want to buy Madrock Dron CS HV climbing shoes, and my foot size is 26 cm. What shoe size should I choose to ensure the best performance for climbing?

How was the difference in sizing between the original drone LV to the new drone CS? Do you think it’s worth waiting for the CS Low volume to come out if I’m currently using the drone LV’s?

I couldn’t tell a huge difference between the two but that’s just me. It’s hard to compare as well because I feel like my Drone LVs have stretched out a bit over time. I say go for the CS now, the worst that can happen is you return them if you get them and they feel too big.

The problem with these shoes is that they're a total nightmare to resole, especially in Denmark, the stores and clubs here only resole Scarpa and La Sportiva, shame, I would have liked to have bought them

@@mikekenny1698 fair, I know a specific resolver in the states that does it but I agree it is much less accessible to the general climbing community in terms of resoles

I need to say this. I like the video but it's really annoying when a reviewer tells you their street shoe size in US but then proceeds to use the european shoe charts when they speak of the shoe they review. Please stick to a system so that we can easily, without having to research, know how much you upgraded or down graded.

I am aware that you put the mad rock charts wich I took the time to look at. It's a good thing you put it and it was helpful once you understand it. Because this charys lacks instructions haha
