@Toyman1982 Silicone doesn't last as long as wax does. It eventually degrades. Tin silicone starts to bite the dust in as little as 2 years. Platinum silicone in as little as five. Silicone also attracts more dust and is harder to clean. I am surprised that they make their negative molds out of plaster though. They are fragile and they lose detail every time you run them...

The sculpting and craftsmanship is awesome but what's stopping them from just doing a full face and body cast if they're going to make all those measurements.

@Toyman1982 for figurines theres different methods but usually you apply a matt varnish to have the colors sticking. for the madame tussauds figurines they aparently work layer by layer to create a very skinlike surface texture and color i guess they add another layer of varnish as a finishing seal

Something is missing, how do they keep the oil paint on? i mean that stuff smears off way to easy! i know people dont go around touching the figures but i highly doubt they would make them so delicate. still an amazing process though. if i was madame tussaud id use silicone though. its MUCH more lifelike.. although these are about as lifelike as you can get!
