I’m still an intermediate student and I’m wondering how do you know when to use this?

When you are sewing with a pattern, just follow the instructions of the pattern. I would use a flat felled seam when you need a very strong seam (when the seam will get a lot of wear and tear, when you think a regular seam will not hold for long)

@@MadamSew this makes a huge amount of sense! I will definitely try using this as a general rule of thumb on most projects especially men’s clothing
