I bought the R.A.T 9 and I cannot recommend it. I basically like everything about the mouse. Its the good looking glossy red one. The quality of the plastic is fairly ok. Its comfortable to use. Customization is great. I wanted to use it really badly. The only problem is I feel that the laser is actually fairly crap. From the first day I had it, the cursor would get stuck or skip up to the top of the screen. I found it impossible to play games. The lens wasn't damaged or covered in dust. I attempted to use 4 different styles of mouse pads and still it had heaps of problems. I tried cleaning the lens with a bit of rubbing alcohol like recommended on the official website. I felt that maybe I had a faulty one? But after some research I found that there were others having the same issues. It uses a Phillips Twin Eye sensor which to my understanding has a very bad reputation. To be honest I cannot believe the mouse has had such fantastic reviews, considering the quality of the sensor, which by all means is the most important factor when selecting a mouse. It makes me believe that barely anyone has actually tested the mouse for real. Apparently the mouse is only suitable for certain surfaces, says many people online. I could not find a surface in my house that would stop the cursor from sticking or skipping across the screen. Anyway this is just a heads up, the mouse may not be perfect.

Yes, Just received mine the day before yesterday and it gives me the same error, Tried every possible thing I found online, substitute surface, clean lens, disable aceleration on windows, remove pinkie rest (said to lift the sensor and cause problems), and no solution so far, calling madcatz rma, but from what I see also it's a normal occurence. Sad because the mouse is really stylish, but in the most important part for a gaming mouse it fails terribly. I'll update after receive response from MadCatz,

I bought the Mad Catz RAT 9 and it did not work with Linux. I use Open suse. I probably could have hack and got it to work but i did not have time. Anyway I returned it to Best Buy.

Yup, Mine died after about 2 months. And with a pricetag like that it's just not worth it. I googled it and i found out that the laser is made by Phillips, The cursor jitters around and have a short lifespan. Otherwise the best mouse i have ever owned. So now i am getting The Razer Ouroboros, hopefully the better selling brand will perform better.

@cigarjohn42 battery life is 9 hours of non stop playing, or on average 4 days before needing to change the battery but luckily it only takes 10 seconds with a charged one waiting. no you dont lose profiles as that it programed on the software on your hard drive. thanks!

How does your thumb personally feel on the screw. It rubs it for me, making it feel like its falling asleep. If you have the tendency to GRAB onto the mouse (rather than palm it for instance), this mouse will feel uncomfortable real quick. It's too bad really.

Amir Ali After a couple weeks of roaming around and learning PC stuff, I learned DPI is how many Dots Per Inch there are. The lower the DPI, the less the mouse moves and vice versa.

I've had this mouse for 4 years now and it is just a pain. The mouse itself is very nice to the touch and very ergonomic. It also comes with weights to give the mouse a better weight to it for each individual user. The software is ok but for me where this mouse fails is the batteries and the sporadic connection with the receiver. The signal sometimes varies quite a lot and gives a not very precise experience. The batteries however are what wind me up the most. If you're gaming for any longer than a few hours then you'll have to change the batteries on a regular basis. I hardly use for a few hours a day if that and I'm constantly having to switch in another battery. These batteries are just CRAP and really let this mouse down.

Only one thing missing.... a button above the scroll wheel. Its the perfect spot for games that have a "sprint" function. Its one of the things I loved about the Logitech MX 518 mouse. Waiting for MadCatz to put that on there. :P

can I get a USB cable for the mouse when the battery dies I can use it I had lots of bull shit on shipping. UPS only on all online dealers. my I.D theft is stolen. I am no a USA citizen. like bull shit I had been filing my taxes on that address and my 2400. is lost due to this never use UPS they also drop packages on the street try to go to a local dealer or have a online dealer to mail it USPS for your protection

you also got a point of the usb cable getting in the way. howeer corless get battery charing time that takes a long time there is no wall in charger both Rat 7 adn Rat 9 got a strong points usb cable dose not suffer charging time well I ordered the coreless version because the delaer where I ordered only had rat 3 and rat 9.Rat 3 is too small too basic. not right

How much are you paid to say this about the mouse? The mouse has horrible accruarcy and barely works. All RAT does is change 1 thing on a mouse and makes it cost extra 100$. Overall, Too be 100% honest. Horrible mouse. Got one for my birthday. Was excited, then it stopped working after 1 day. I am still suprised that RAT still has followers like you guys. Such a shitty mouse and barely works. 200$ for a broken mouse? Nah NEVER BUY THIS MOUSE

On the website it only shows that the software only works with this mouse. It's kind of a given because the other mice do not have the same buttons.

The near empty battery doesn't cause anykind of problems. When the battery gets empty the only behaviour u can notize is that the mouse simply turns off. Then new battery in and the ownage continues. The battery life has been said to be 7-8 hrs. I have played the Nazi zombie game with my friend over 10 hrs til the battery indicator started to blink. The battery life has not been a problem. The price is pretty high so maybe few test rounds would be good b4 bying one:)

Great video bro. I wish people would refrain from swearing. If they don't like the way you present your info, they should make there own video. These bad critics are the noobs that are pretty much jealous and cheap. On another note, what's the life expectancy of the battery before needing to swap it out? Also, when you swap batteries and the mouse shuts off temporarily, when installing the other battery, will you lose any of your profiles or settings and how long til' the mouse becomes active.

anyone here knows how I can adjust my precision button, so that it will be one click. Basically I want it, so that when I press the button, then it will right click once and slow down. This kicks the shit out of all the razor (and especially ugly steel series) mice out there. This thing actually looks way higher quality and worth 100+ dollars. It has an actual metal casing. The only thing it may lack to some people is 16 useless macro buttons that your hand will constantly accidentally hit. Yes.. i'm referring to the abomination known as the razer naga.

Gamers really only use wired mice for reasons of interference and there is a greater risk of crashing mid-game. i have been through about 2 or 3 wireless mice and i still prefer greatly a solid wired mouse. it feels alot more secure to me atleast so id say your best bet is to buy the RAT 7

@crackcroc This is why I'd consider the Razer Orochi. Great for laptop use while away from the desktop, whilst keeping the wire plugged into the desktop all ready for you when you get home. Personally, I'm still happy with my good ol' mx518 and will use it til it dies.

Windows 8 is practically Windows 7, but optimized for touch screens, so most things do work.
