As a carpenter and interested in repetition, every time I see such interesting and informative videos, I enjoy it because a piece is more difficult than making it from scratch, and Baysity uses a lot of patience, patience and skill. I hope to see more of you in future videos. be more to witness💙

Watching this episode reminded me of my late father (passed away last year at the age of 89) who always used old furniture pieces to build shelves and tables for his study and other rooms. Although he was a teacher (Latin, Philosophy and Religion) we never had enough money, because he built our house with no own money (so he had to lend it) and with five children (two of them often in hospital) and a wife in very bad health he took what he had to make our home as cozy as he could. He always said, the furniture he built was "brosch", a word for "put together from scrap in a scrappy way", but I loved it. I now inherit his "brosch", looking forward to use these things to build my own furniture for my study and my workshop and my sons and grandson. Watching your video fills me with _warmhearted love_ for what you do! You are one of the few (of the many many) woodworkers on YT who I really admire! I love your work and your attitude! YOUR work is never "brosch", but _art_ ! Thank you for making my day on this Wednesday morning in Germany! 💚👋

Ah... That treadle sewing cabinet reminds me of my Mom's sewing machine that I used to sew the first dresses I made for myself. It was very hard for me to reach the treadle platform to get the machine working as even today I am only 55 inches tall and I had not finished growing by age 12 when I was already making my own clothes. I still partly earn my living by sewing and had a custom table made with shorter legs so I can reach the electric machine pedal along with a matching short chair to go with it. I love watching your videos as I love to create beautiful things myself. My hands never stop making something whether I work in porcelain, china paints, leathers, silks, or 120 year old laces... I strive for excellence as I see you do in every project. Well, and also I did a lot of furniture stripping and re-finishing as well... love that! I love how your piece turned out right down to your mini-safe! So nice! I really re-lived a lot of my childhood sewing days watching this... Thank you so much!

I love it and its beautiful, still works. I made a quilt on it many years ago. Unfortunately my kids and grandkids don't like anything old. I've been watching your channel for a long time, and love your work. While I like and appreciate upcycling trashed furniture into useful and beautiful items, my heart was crushed with every piece of that Singer treadle table you cut up! I repair and restore the tables and the machines that go in them, and it's so hard to find parts, especially the drawers and irons (legs). I'm not making money on my work, it's basically a hobby, working on machines I gathered from flea markets and garage sales and the FB Marketplace back when I had money from work. Now that I'm retired, everything is so expensive, and every time I see someone buying the treadles to make tables, or the machines to make lamps or yard art, I just want to cry. Your valet table is lovely and useful, but I just see Singer parts. I still wish you the best in your work, keep it up, but please think twice before using sewing machines/tables next time. :)

Nicely done, Barry! And great use of what would otherwise end up in the landfill. The "new" chest will live for another 100 years or so. When I saw that sewing machine stand, it looked like my Mom's Singer that she got from her Aunt as a young girl. In looking at her's, the drawers are almost identical but with a slightly different shape at the front and wood knobs. The one I have actually has a working sewing head, but the gears and bushings are too worn for anything but hidden seams and the belts are about to fall apart. It's a beautiful piece of furniture now having been refinished in the '60s and well kept since. Thanks for showing what can be done with someone else's trash, and for the trip down memory lane.
