Maddur Vada was invented by Ramachandra Bhudhya in 1917 who came to Maddur from Kundapura Talluk of Udupi District. He shared this recipe and sold the restaurant in 1948 to Doddayya Hebbar. On those days, great personalities like Nalwadi Krishnaeaj Vodeyar, Sir M Vishweshwaraih, Indira Ghandhi, Nijalingappa, Devaraj Aras etc used to visit this small Udupi restaurant for this Maddur Vada. Like this, many Karnataka food items were invented in Udupi Restaurants, like Masala Dosa was invented in Woodland Hotel Chennai, Rava Vada was invented in MTR hotel Bangalore, Open Dosa was invented in Adigas hotel Bangalore, Goli Baje or Mangalore Bhajji was invented by Mitra Samaj restaurant Udupi, Gadbad Ice-cream was invented by Daina Hotel Udupi,

@@Karthik-lo1fx No. Masala Dosa invented by Woodlands Hotel when there was no.white chutney to serve with plain Dosa. A clever clock served plain dosa with Potato Baji (which was served with Poori) and red chutney in Woodland Hotel Chennai. It became popular and later it was named as Masala Dosa

The Maddur vade which was prepared in Railway station was the real one, Being a regular commuter , I used taste everyday, due to line conversion to broad guage it was closed, I have tasted Maddur vade in M Tiffany's but taste is not similar, even the texture of it, I really doubt the claims made by them, the food taste and preparation is average.
