The sad part is I'm already seeing people defend this mode in the most laughable way possible. Those people are why this game never improves. They accept and defend garbage year after year after year and it's honestly kind of disturbing to see. All this talk about how this wasn't gonna be Longshot and yet it ends up being Longshot with a new coat of paint over it. Shame that some content creators in the community want to pretend the game is better than it is. That's why Ryan will always be the best in the community for me. This is basically longshot with a worse storyline. Like whoever wrote this left a lot of details out. Does the QB have family or friends? Why include the high school recruit part of your none of it fits the timeline of the story. What happened to the QB ahead of you? Do you have any rivals? For example, Jackson Ellis in 2K14, he was a really annoying character that would always talk trash to you and always competed to be better than you. Playing him was really fun because their would be cutscenes when you played him and he was really good. In the offseason you would 1v1 him and do stuff like that. Madden didn’t include any of this in their story. Like look at 2K16’s story, and compare it to this.

This mode stinks. Best part is after you get "drafted", you can go into edit player and pick your college. The other annoying aspect of this mode is the "storyline". Yeah, you're supposedly a big time recruit, and then you get benched, and sit for four years and not transfer? Show me any college where I guy would say "sure!! I'll ride the bench for four years.".... It would never happen.. Another part thats classic is the first game. Its a Saturday, during the holidays, and Patrick Mahomes is just hanging out at Cowboy Stadium, walking around. Yeah, all pro players go watch a college game in a city they don't play in, the day before they play. Sureee.

Honestly, I don't mind this aspect of it. I'm not expecting changes for where you choose the school, who your coaches are, etc. I can live with that being the same. More importantly is what happens once you take the field? Are there different cut scenes if you lose the semifinal? You tank the Combine? If you answer questions the "wrong" way? That was the issue in Longshot. Didn't matter what you did, the game brought you to the same exact storyline. To the point where you could just retry if you didn't play it the "right" way. That's where the paths have to branch. And that's what I think will give this mode a pass or fail.

I knew this mode would be trash as soon as it asked me for my last name which is Brown (probably one of the most common names out there) and it said “this name isn’t on my list please choose a different name (you can change it if you make it to the nfl)”. Then on top of that it doesn’t even give you a list of approved names so I had to randomly guess until I got one. I’m so glad I didn’t buy the game and instead just downloaded it from a friend. Immediately deleted it right after.

So it seems that your choices do have an impact on which round you go in but it’s hard NOT to be a first rounder. If picked in the first round, you’ll always go pick 26th and go to either the raiders, broncos, or bengals. I’ve seen some go in the 7th, some go in the 4th but most in the first. Meh

Give me a career mode where I can play a RTG type series of games in college, then maybe a combine mini type game like the Baseball show case in MLB to help boost draft stock, then the draft & training camp like the way NCAA Football 14 did it where you earn trust, then turn me loose. Now, give me a few chances to mold my character like NBA 2K or MLB the Show that molds your path. Something like that would be great. Heavy on game play & light on story/drama. This is sheet !
