Softdrink finally released an actual honest review of Madden 24. He's spot on. He's not hating on it. He points out some highlights, though there are very few, and points out the numerous deficiencies. He is saying that in the short term, the game can be fun. But, over the long haul, you're going to see the same old problems, and the novelty of the "new additions" wears off. That's why you see so many people that have played the 10 hour trial saying they are enjoying it so much.

I had an idea run through my head last night. How about somebody getting an actual coach of football, maybe a local high school coach, a small college coach, or any kind of coach they can get and have them run a CPU vs CPU game where they call all the plays against somebody that knows almost nothing about football but knows madden and let's see what happens. For fairness they should both select the same team and turn home field advantage off. I would love to see the outcome of this and to see if somebody with actual football knowledge and strategy can beat somebody that simply knows how to cheese the game. Then have the coach try to comprehend what he's seeing the game do and explain what went wrong. Because if this game is as realistic as it says it is, there is no way the coach should lose.

NFL Head Coach 09 and Madden 25 are my go to football games. Only because I stopped my console days at PS3. NFL Head Coach has nearly every feature I would want in my opinion of a perfect football game: - understands football rules, actually has ERFA, RFA, draft pick compensation for those players if they are signed elsewhere. - random events that impact your team. An accident at home for a player (In my Falcons Franchise I had Mark Simoneau (SP?) my best MLB and veteran leader stumble down some stairs, hit his head, and get a concussion. He missed most of the season trying to recover from it, and when he did come back his head health rating was so low he'd have to come off the field after only a few snaps) or players gathering together for an extra film study session and gaining more playbook knowledge to which - players' ability to learn is actually a thing. Since you can't user a player, it is all up to the AI. If you have a beast athlete that is dumber than a bag of hammers, they won't peform because they won't learn your playbook. They will make costly errors, like blowing assignments or drawing penalties. It also matters if you are trying to change a playbook on offense or defense. If your players didn't play in that system, they will have to learn the whole thing. - massive staff tree: HC, OC, DC, QBC, RBC, WRC, OLC, DLC, LBC, DBC, STC, Trainer, GM. All of these staff members made an impact on your team and how it functions. Have a terrible GM? Expect to not be able to pull off good trades, expect to pay way more for free agents, not get decent scouting information. Have a terrible trainer, watch as your starters spend lots of time on the injury report. The thing I played Madden 25 for is the owner mode so I could relocate a team. That's really the only thing that was missing from HC.

The CPU doesn't have any clock management. The clock will be running down with them having no timeouts and they never spike the ball to try and stop the ball so they can plan on what they would do after. They just go no huddle and the game will be over by the time they get to the line.

Seeing players warming up during play progressions is something I, as a non-sports fan, never would've thought of showing during a football video game. But it's obviously something a team would actually be doing if they were potentially planning a change of strategy, and likely something coaches or cameras would spot that could tip off opponents to those potential strategy changes. My Madden 24 PS5 has a sound glitch where you can hear the tv speaker coming in and out. It doesn't happen on any other game. Or when watching something like Netflix. So I know it's not the TV as it is new as well.

I noticed this as a problem since the NCAA days where in a tie or game or they're behind or tied and play like they're ahead and try to run out the clock with no awareness of the scoreboard. It was a little rarer in NCAA due to the difference in overtime rules, but that also had its own problem of the other team getting the ball twice when it wanted you to lose. I guess it reinforces Ryan's point of this is so fundamentally broken that it can't possibly be fixed in just a patch or a single development cycle. They really need to find a way to separate ultimate team from the rest of the game so that way the game can go through a major overhaul. But that's assuming EA cares about anything more than making money, which they have proven, they don't.

You know, I'm glad that Mills acknowledged the flaws in the game here when trying to make content with it. If I'm gonna criticize these influencers when they champion the game, I must also give credit where it's due when they properly criticize the game like we all have. Hopefully, enough influencers will turn off the game with this stuff happening and EA takes the hint to either get people in the building that care about making a quality game (and getting people like Clint out of that building) or they let the NFL know they can't live up to the terms of the agreement they have and agree to let other companies make an NFL game. An incompetent team may have burned their last TO too soon, called run plays in questionable situations, and might've even screwed around enough to let the time expire before they could get a FG attempt off. We've all seen those things happen before in real life. But no one is incompetent enough to not have even attempted to spike the ball ONCE in that entire sequence, or try to rush the FG unit onto the field. That was more than bad clock management ... that was the AI having absolutely no idea what the situation was. They're basically operating that drive the same way they would have handled to opening drive of the game.

If you ever watch the stats at the bottom of the screen, so often it’ll have the cpu teams qb going 3-5 for 50 yards and the running back will have 6 Carry’s for 18 yards and that’ll be the whole offensive stats for the game. So you’re telling me a 48 min sim game had 11 total offensive plays??

Madden 24 is the first madden I’ve bought since ‘19. I’m having fun with it so far on Series S. Haven’t experienced anything horrible yet. Lol
