I'm not saying Madden is a perfect game, by any stretch of the imagination - I haven't bought a Madden since 19 - but I actually can see the game logic that the guard is following here. It's exploitable in online play, honestly. People have been doing this exact thing for several years now.

The guard is supposed to help the center and then keep his gap in case of a blitzing LB or if the DE shoots back inside. This is just a broken mechanic from both a gameplay and real life technique standpoint.

It's going to take real NFL players and fans signing a joint petition to ask EA to skip an entire year, create a whole new engine and logic based physics engine to come close to getting it right. This game does it all the time! The receiver animations somehow warp into the cornerback to a incomplete. The wr never finish a route, they stop right behind a defender like he’s waiting in line. CB always catch up to a route or ball that don’t make sense. QB arm strength is pathetic along with accuracy.

That looked like the kind of blocking Willie Beamen had after he pissed everyone off and they refused to block for him. (Least Anthony didn't lose his helmet like Willie did on impact.) The CPU usually gets through cause they get home with their blitzes at a higher percentage than the user does. It's not shocking or surprising that the game fails to capture how great Nelson is.

I love the current glitch/bug where users can toggle Momentum to OFF via Franchise League Settings but it still appears in-game. EA advertised that users would have the ability to turn momentum off in '24 but they can't even get that right 😂 false advertising. So glad I only played the 10hr trial to prevent me from purchasing. Glitch is happening on all platforms for 100% of users and EA hasn't event acknowledged it. But glad they have time to post about new MUT cards

So, I think what's going on in the first play is happening BECAUSE Nelson is such a beast, actually. Defense is running a SS blitz, that's the guy Nelson picks up. I hypothesize that BECAUSE Nelson has such a high Play Rec Stat - he recognizes that the SS will be blitzing and will be uncovered. So the spaghetti code programming forces him to pick up the unaccounted for Blitzer, and just let's the LB through freely because the Center, hypothetically, SHOULD be able to cover that gap (and if you properly slide you D line preplay, you can force the center into a block and allow the free runner at the QB every time)

You're right, except for some reason the other Guard is the one trying to block that blitzer while the Center stays engaged with that other guy and doesn't slide over... the guard also can't figure out how to get around the Center so he just ends up double teaming the guy the Center is blocking Just awful gameplay on display

yup. madden needs to completely rework offensive line logic. theres a whole slew of meta blitzes completely based off of hugging the los and making the offensive line think you’re coming and then getting a free rusher cause they’re unable to slide appropriately when the predicted blitzer doesn’t come. Madden either needs to make the “id the mike” feature a lot more powerful(aka o-line is guaranteed to pick up the guy selected even if it means having 1on1’s with the 4 down linemen), needs to make the line smart adjust when blitzers greendog, or make users who hug the los slower in pass defense and more likely to get sucked into pass rush animations as a consequence of showing blitz.

I called EA they have a game guarantee if you dislike the game but for digital copies only ok so I bought a hard copy and told GameStop I would never buy a physical copy again and buy an external hard drive since they fail to honor EAs guarantee and spent enough time complaining they allowed me to return mine for in store credit. I’ll preorder CoD but I will not buy Madden ever again till EA loses the license or puts an effort into the game. I’m 45 years old and have bought Madden every year since the early 90s on my Super Nintendo and this is the first copy I have ever returned. ☆That's cool everyone focus has always been on the field..but just imagine like in hit man ppl in the stadium and sideline walking around , cheerleaders seen in the background, mascots for each team, during the game being able to hit a button that saves big plays to be shown at halftime...imagine at least 10 instant replays instead of 2 😕, seeing a team getting blown out while fans being seen leaving their seats before the game is over😮...imagine real recorded sounds from fans cheering from each stadium = playing at home would sound way different when ur the visitor team... imagine all penalties in the NFL added to Madden, like taunting, to many men on the field that randomly happen every now and then that u can't control, perhaps even better 《challenge the play calls😉...》 random weather where it may start out cold and sunny but 3rd quarter snow coming down heavy, or rain 1st quarter but then starts coming down heavy around 2min warning in the 4th quarter... Also when players get hit hard they lay there for a few seconds with a chance of it being a light or serious injury... Come on EA Yall making ALL the money!! Can we get different sports commentators for each game played during franchise, like Sunday and monday night football? I mean show some love for gamers who pay attention and enjoy the small details in games 😏.😅

This is the first madden i have not gotten in 20 years. After last season's madden i couldn't do it anymore. The deal breaker for me was the amount of interceptions you would throw in franchise mode. You would look at the stats for the season and every QB would have 30+ interceptions. So un-real. Db's would have 15 to 20 interceptions on the season. Hoping the new collage game will be better.

Here's another one for you. Run levels sail/doubles sail put of trips te/trey y flex etc against quarters with match on. The solo cb in the outside quarter and the defender in the quarter flat will both guard the rb and leave the TE unguarded on a corner route. I have clips saved of it happening multiple times. Have to wait for a patch before it gets fixed. Match coverage is horrendous right now as db's guard the wrong recievers

So the reason this happens is before the play even begins the AI on both sides know what the opposing call is. Off jump that’s as unrealistic as it gets but once you’ve called a play Nelson knew that that DB was gonna blitz and that was the assignment he was picking up. It makes no sense and has no logic because before the ball is snapped the animations for every position are pre determined. Who’s gonna win a route, who’s gonna blow a block, everything. So he picks up that blitzer because he knows beforehand that that’s gonna be a blitzer and that becomes his assignment. It makes no sense but that’s what happens when the game relies so heavily on animations that the AI have to decide their assignment before the ball is snapped

I know I’m late to the party but it looked like Nelson was Mic Checked onto that guy in specific which means a specific lineman typically the guard will make it, it’s specific focus to block and protect. The way fix this from a user is to adjust it it to a lineman not being double or the inside linebacker. From an ea perspective the way they should fix it is the lineman should be able to bounce off the initial blocker in range and then shed them off to get up field to their responsibility. In this case the responsibility was blitzing and got in range making nelson ignore the linebacker right in front.

Last season was 2022. 2023 would be the stats from the upcoming season. Still makes no sense to show a bunch of 0's, though. I believe in madden 22 they just show the player's overall if it's the first game of the season, and after that game they show the stats he's accumulated. I was considering buying this year's version of the game since the last one I bought was 22, but I've seen nothing but negative feedback about it so far. I'll just wait for the game to tank so bad they have to lower the price lol

Yeah everyone’s stats should be all 0s if it’s showing 2023 Season Stats. I thought I was in the twilight zone because I was confused if I was missing something and I had to scroll awhile to see this comment. They should show last seasons stats and could put rookies last college year or total college stats until week 1 because showing 0s for everyone for a month is rather lazy.

I never even sniffed big time college football, let alone the league, and I was a WR/DB, but even I know that base pass protection is not that complex. Literally just block the guy in front of you. Even NFL offensive lines don't complicate base pass protection too much beyond block the guy in front of you against a base front with no one showing blitz pre-snap. There is no excuse for screwing up something so simple in a game like this that costs $70. How has the blocking logic gotten so much worse over the years?

I’m an 80’s baby but I didn’t start playing madden until Madden 2004 and I have played every one from that point all the way until 22. Didn’t get 23 and not getting 24. I’ve had enough.

On the first play with nelson, id argue it would be correct for him to take the threat to his left. Basically youll slide from center to tackle left or right taking the outside shoulder threat. Because of their animations center cant come of the block while the guard would pick him up. The backside typically will do what they call BOB. Basically man to man blocking. If ran correctly, the center and rg wouldve doubled the tackle then the center and lg wouldve doubled the fjrst rusher. Nelson wouldve picked up the second threat if it came fast enough. The animations dont allow for this to happen most of the time.

I just realized either one of two things is happening when it comes to Madden, they are either working on Madden 23 and 24 at once which is dumb or they spent the equivalent of a Child's summer vacation to work on Madden 24 because the season is over in February and they usually stop updating the previous Madden in May, they need to take a year off and actually put time into making a quality game
