Maddie is absolutely correct about what many republicans ran on. A man running for senate in my home state ran an anti-trans campaign, no policy ideas. Despite his competitor(the current sitting senator) calling out his shady business dealings, being found guilty of stealing from his employees, and extreme anti abortion stance, he won. The only ad this man ran against his opponent(the current) was that he voted in support of trans women in women's sports and sex change surgeries for minors. All of which were not true. Every time it's not okay to be anti a certain marginalized group of people, republicans find a new group of folks to single out. Now as being gay becomes more acceptable, the focus has now shifted to trans people. So much so, that in many places all a person has to do is run an anti trans campaign to win office. Even if they have no policy ideas.
