The real abuse in this story is from Maddie’s parents who voluntarily let their daughter get into any of these situations. Dance Moms is just filmed abuse of minors perpetrated by the teacher and the parents who knowingly bring their kids to be abused.

Her mom was a wimp on DM's and I was watching an old episode when the lady who was also a dance teacher and new cast member, had went to dinner with Maddie's mom and she told that lady about all the other dance moms private business but of course left out her own messy situation at that time? As someone on the spectrum who grew up on stage and as a skater (Im Also a singer songwriter and mum of 4 with 2 on the spectrum) I have to say this comment of someone on the spectrum playing the part is not impossible but near dam it, because remembering lines and confidence is a huge issue and routine of dance why as a skater I had 2 routines for comps for years. I even struggle to learn my own songs even tho I wrote them!! I think she should not have to apologize for that. Sia wrote the part for Maddie, it didn't occur to her to look for someone autistic, the same way as Sia thought that the appropriate research for Maddie to play the part was to watch 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' and KZbin channels that show autistic children having meltdowns. The mother KNOWING and allowing that type of abuse to continue with Dance Mom Abby is absolutely despicable. All she did was send her to be exploited by ANOTHER middle aged unstable woman. With the incredible talent that MZ was, I recognized that it was inappropriate even at her appearance on DWTS. But seeing this, wow - heartbreaking. Shame on her mother. I hope that MZ gets the help that she needs to create safe spaces for herself mentally and physically now that she is older.

I just came across this video, I don't know much about this situation, but I think Sia is trying to protect Maddie from the pedos in the industry. I know about the incident with Sia and Miramax CEO Harvey Weinstein... I think Sia was trying to bring a message across, but maybe Sia was pushing a little too hard. I think maybe Sia just needed some assistance to kinda keep things levelled, maybe she was stressed, hope everything is sorted now.

She also said that she felt protective of Maddie and wanted to keep her safe and the best way that she could think of to do that is to keep creating projects for Maddie. I blame everyone who controlled the original Dance Moms Girls, including Sia. I liked "Chandler" but hated the one that Maddie danced with Shia LaBeouf, or whatever his last name is. Why would any mother like Melissa put her child in that position? Because she was greedy. She claims that she was doing it for Maddie and Makenzie, but no. I also blame Abby for being the mean tyrant she was, and still is. She wants to reboot the show with the same producers who started this whole shit (pardon my language) in the first place. It is one of the reasons why Makenzie refuses to dance. Same with Brooke and Paige. I have seen all of their stories on YT. I do not blame them. Abby has ruined it for all of them, as well as the producers of that monster of a reality show. I hope one day that these girls have the audacity to sue them, and yes, I have seen all seven seasons, but refused to see the eighth, and hope they never have a ninth. I do not like the way this industry takes advantage of children. They work long hours, and all of these "monsters", including these parents, think about is money. Let a child be a child. If they make a mistake, correct them in the right way, not by yelling, but by showing them they care. This is one of the reasons child entertainers become drug addicts, stressed out, alcoholics, afraid of their own shadows, or in therapy. Any time someone like Sia is obsessed with your child, run away, and take your child with you. If you are a parent and decide to put your child into show business, do it for the child, have a very good lawyer, in fact, 2-3 lawyers, a child advocate in case you lose all your senses when you see how much your child will be making, have one working parent in a normal job if you are two-parent family, so that you can have backup money when the child decides to quit, and never make the child the bread winner of the family. And most important, let then be children and have fun and love them unconditionally.

Sometimes people can become over-protective for their own personal reasons. It's not necessarily something sinister. Even the best of intentions can go too far sometimes. It's sad to think that pop-culture and mainstream adoption of fleeting views that lack enough insight and depth can start slamming someone who they perhaps once admired. Sia doesn't belt out such powerful vocals loaded with intense emotion without depth of character based on raw life experiences. Why can't people recognize that? For a powerhouse of a performer to title her album 1000 Forms of Fear, perhaps people can work out for themselves how all this fits together with a bit of intelligence and empathy. Most teenagers go through a period where they oppose those close to them. It's just a natural part of growing up, out and becoming independent. If Sia has been overprotective of Maddie, then she is among many others who have done exactly the same thing regarding their own kids, or someone else they care about. If everyone's life played out on stage, would it then be such a unique thing worthy of some kind of public mauling? While some think life is all about coming up with a meme for clickbait, there's still people who actually live life and express something profound from that. I hope both Sia and Maddie get over all of this and even though their paths my go in different directions for a while or for however long, who hasn't been in that situation with someone they care about? No amount of putting someone down offers exaltation.

You people defending Sia to the death are not understanding exactly why. First, nobody is 'making anything up' as you suggested. Many people found both of those videos questionable, and as far as 'Music' is concerned, she clearly did not research enough, and also admitted Maddie being reluctant to do it - Sia also said she was crying the first day, which normally could have been anything, but Maddie was already an experienced performer. If she was 'so protective' of her, she could perform the simple task of making sure Shia's hygiene wasn't a problem during the shoot of 'Elastic Heart? The interaction was questionable enough - but with a smelly, uncouth older man? The snuggling wasn't the worst thing, but a little creepy to some people. Sia also blatantly admitted she would never work on another project without Maddie - that too, is a little concerning. Why does Maddie have to be in EVERYTHING she does? Bought her a new car? She's like her mom? 24 hour security? Why can't her mom do that? You know, Abby exploited Maddie for a long time. Sia's behavior is very questionable, not necessarily bad, or evil. You can't blame people for caring! No one is saying anything bad about Maddie. NO one really has anything to gain because they feel these adults - all of them - are behaving irresponsibly - back then, anyway - around Maddie. Let's say, that one day, Maddie does admit her relationship with Sia wasn't all she said it was, and Sia was indeed manipulative and creepy towards her and so forth. I doubt many people would celebrate the news with unrestrained glee - it be a sad day. There would be no 'winning' anything. So most people suspicious of Sia and her motives are not doing anything wrong, either. I myself was just starting to like her. 'Snowman' is one of the most powerful songs I ever heard. I don't want to hate or think badly of her at all!! That would suck! The concern is for young, underage children, especially girls(I think). There are emerging stories all the time of such alleged bad behaviors. We have to be sure, yes. If Maddie is okay with it in the end, so be it. But me, I am disgusted with everything I've heard, and seen, of not just Sia, but everything. Her MOTHER should have provided those things in the first place, not some strange adult that Maddie herself admitted she barely knew despite being a celebrity herself.
