I live in Ireland all my life and I have the same problems here. Its great to see you being honest about your experiences, a lot of women would be afraid to admit everything you've experienced but the truth is its the same in every country in the world. I think thats why so many couples who meet their first love tend to stay together as its better the devil you know.

Dating in the US sucks too. Lol. We can’t win. And I swear I’m never getting on an app ever again. If I don’t meet someone in the “wild” then it’s not happening. We all need to go back speaking to people again and not swiping for the next option. I hate the instant replacement and throw away society we have become. Sigh… 😩

Well said. Trying to find 'the love of your life's on a dating app just doesn't seem to make sense to me. I'm sure there are a few who find someone, but keep in mind anyone on a dating site is talking to several other people they want to date. Imagine meeting someone in real life and asking if they're single and their response was "Yes I'm single and currently pursuing 8 other people I'm interested in dating. So would you like to go out now?" Obviously most people would run away, quickly. As they should. But for some reason they are willing to accept it from people on dating sites. I just don't get it. Seems like that's just a recipe for disappointment. I'm just grateful nothing bad has happened to this girl. What she's doing with all the crazy stuff going on in the world today sure seems awfully risky. I certainly hope she finds what she's looking for. I just think there's better ways of doing it than via internet searching.

I agree with you 100%. I just like to be myself and even then, it often does not matter because the person you are on a date with, usually is not always open and being themselves. I just give up, and instead, I do activities I enjoy, and if I meet someone that way that is fine.

Great video Maddie! I'm American living abroad in Europe now. I've dated in France, Spain and the USA. It's all the same, exactly as you describe it. I finally got off of the apps. It's too easy to meet unpleasant men who seem to have no sense of humanity or respect. I prefer meeting guys in real life, in the wild lol. It's much much better. Not as many dates but the dynamic is completely different. I swear I think all men see all women on dating apps as being 'loose'. I know that's not true for 100% but it's true for most. Btw, I have enjoyed my own company a lot more and no longer look for my 'media naranja'. I didn't realize how much I have to offer myself. Like you, I don't want kids and very happy with that choice. The single life is unfairly portrayed as lonely. Not true. It's bliss if you've been stuck in a bad relationship. I'm not ready to give up my bliss too easily now. Have fun, don't get into cars with guys you don't know, love yourself more than anyone else and be proud of all you are. You're Golden!

Dating is ALWAYS difficult, at any age. I was widowed in my late 60’s (married ~45 years), and found it very difficult to find a compatible woman. Money was usually an issue and of course lying on dating profiles too. I empathize with you and wish you the best fortune. I’ve been told that the prepared foods aisle in the supermarket is a great place to find eligible singles!

Same issue, different gender! Men seem to want an instant maid/housekeeper\sex partner, but I have met other women in our age group who are looking for a “sugar daddy”. Good grief! There must be a way to find compatible partners who actually want personal, thoughtful interactions, and I am not talking about agreeing on every topic, either! To quote Bono, “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for”, but I am still hopeful. Maddie is a very mature person, and her observations are valid for both genders and all ages, IMO. Best wishes!

Your honesty is commendable. So many people put on masks on dates to pretend to be someone that they are not. Unfortunately, once that mask comes off you may have begun to believe this could be the beginning of a good relationship. Once that happens, you kind of lose interest in dating. I have always enjoyed your videos because of your honesty which makes you who you are, a lovely woman. I am glad I had the pleasure to have met you in Ajijic. I was the older gentleman who stopped you and your friend at the plaza in Ajijic. I had asked you about a possible scam on your KZbin channel. I had gotten a notification that a comment I had made on one of your videos was selected and I could receive an Xbox or some sort of prize. You told right away that it was a scam and do not reply to it. I thank you for that. I hope you find someone that will make you happy in life and appreciates that he has someone as special as you.

You hit the nail on the head with this, great video, super well done! And yeah, in Mexican culture it's not uncommon for exes to stay in contact and be friendly with each other or even each other's families post-dating. This can definitely seem weird to people from other cultures where it's more customary to cut all ties off after a breakup 😅 like, my aunt by marriage divorced my uncle, and when she started dating an American man, he was like... why are your ex in laws always around?? He thought it was so weird. He eventually realized that it didnt point to any lingering romance between her and my uncle, we just are always going to be family, and now he's also considered part of the familia ☺️

Hey Maddie, I married a mexican lady (and got divorced). The acting like a child thing can happen both ways. When we moved in together she felt insulted that she had to help out or work or do anything honestly. So I had to pick that all up while working to support us and that definitely weighed heavy. It wasn't a relationship where she viewed me as a big money american either, she just lived her whole life with her parents doing this stuff for her. And she cheated as well, but I agree with you that the machismo stuff feels more common.

Girl, lemme let ya in on a secret. I’m over 45. The best time in my life is being single. Been single for yeeears. Why? Cuz I can be and want to be. I make my own money. I do my own thing. No one to answer to. It’s me living my best life. Do I get some now and then? Sure. Do I invite to spend the night & cook it breakfast in the morning? Absolutely not. 😂 You’re young, beautiful, and smart. Don’t think that you have to settle for anything less than you absolutely deserve. And for me? Well let’s just say I haven’t met anyone I think is worth it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But I’m not looking either. You do you, boo. Live your best life & if someone can keep up with you, then maybe give ‘em a chance. Until then, keep exploring this big world we have! ❤ Hopefully, I’ll see ya out there!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? I lived in Mexico years ago, so this may no longer apply, but at the time, I dated extensively, and found that those guys who wanted to lock a woman down right away had no intention of being themselves locked down. And not only that, but they didn't seem to feel that this was anything other than normal-- just the way men are. The same goes for the lying. I never did figure out whether it was a cultural thing, but the Mexican guys I knew seemed to feel that lying was just to be expected (at least from men), and seemed not to have the moral judgment about lying that I, and I'm thinking most people from the U.S., grow up with, whether they adhere to the morality themselves or not. It seemed there was just nothing shameful, to the men I knew, about getting caught in a lie, and they didn't seem to comprehend why I would find it upsetting to discover I'd been lied to, whether about something I'd consider relatively minor, or about something I saw as a big deal. When I returned to the U.S. and had been back for a while, I had a long-term relationship with a man who'd long lived in the U.S., but had grown up in Mexico...and I encountered one of the two things in him: he was wanting to lock things down right away, but he was faithful. However, I discovered only after living together for several years that he'd been lying his face off about all kinds of things, from stories about events in his past, to having created an entire fictional past life that he told everyone he knew, and that everyone believed. He'd even asked me to marry him, pointing out the beautiful (and very expensive) house we'd move into, which I later realized he could no way have ever afforded (and he always insisted on paying for everything-- it was a matter of pleasure and pride for him to pay, and buy me things-- so it wasn't a situation in which he was thinking I'd pay for the house. The lying seemed to me, though on a grander scale, much the same as what I'd seen from men when I was in Mexico, when I wondered what the point was, or why they would tell iies they were bound to get caught in. It felt like they were totally in the moment, with no forethought about consequences, including the possibility of getting caught. But then again, when they did get caught, it seemed to me they saw it as no big deal, let alone something to be ashamed of or embarrassed about, so if my perceptions about this were accurate, maybe they felt no need to think about consequences, because they saw no reason for there to be any.
@nji7772
@nji7772 Жыл бұрын
YES! YES! ❤ Sorry to add, he was probably not faithful! The "lock down", in my experience was about CONTROL, not concern and protection.My case, he was everythig he presented. After the first year, it became different literalky overnight. After four years, I had had enough and I "believe" he is a very malignant "shy" narcisst/socii who couldn't fool me. Yo soy una mujuer real. No me gusta ganas de amor "mandingo". Caras falsos. Feo!

Very interesting cultural observations! There have been numerous, recent YT videos by some women who, after many frustrating dates and relationships, shared their decision not to continue to date at all anymore. Some call it "Single by Choice" or Decentering Men". These women put their personal growth and development at the top of their priority list and have stopped spending their time and energy in pursuit of the "happily ever after" fantasy. That approach seems to have given them a much more balanced, peaceful, and happier life. They are off the dating treadmill for good and making the most of who they can be, without all the relationship drama.

Great video on the dating scene in Mexico. Seems like you used some good common sense to avoid problematic people, in today's world, one can't be too careful. My only cautionary comment is that I would avoid activity dates until one has a really established relationship. There's a channel about Narcissism and the creator is HG Tudor, worth a look at. He advises women not to go online for any dating sites, he says that's where Narcissists go for their next victims. Some of the conduct of the men that you dated are on the Narcissist spectrum. Obviously, its best to meet people organically or thru personal friends.

@@stormtrooper346 Hey Stormtrooper, thanks for your comment! While I studied Psych in college, I use spectrum, since without a formal evaluation one doesn't know for sure. But manipulative behavior, trying to get intimate too quickly, love bombing one with words like "soul mate", I feel like I've know you forever, or trying to move in right away are big indications. Maddie seems pretty careful & uses good judgement. Awareness is really key, most malignant Narcs move on & find easier prey. Btw, when you Maddie let her know some trips in Az (forgot to post on her community page) that I think would be great travel videos. Since you have a place in Flagstaff, the drive from there to Sedona by Oak Creek ( I believe that's the name) is really beautiful. Sedona can be unique & love Jerome, old mining town. Also, Bisbee & Tombstone are fun to visit too. When the cactus are blooming, its lovely. I love ghost towns but that might be too niche. Best of luck on your operation!
@mtngrl5859
@mtngrl5859 Жыл бұрын
@@GrannyLinn Narcissists are an expanding part of the population. It's estimated that about 15% of the US pop has that syndrome. So, even if you go cold turkey on relationships one will likely encounter them either in a work associate, boss, or unfortunately a family member. In the past Narcissism was less than 5% of the population, but with the advent of social media it has become pronounced. The case of Amber Heard & Johnny Depp was classic. Amber's Dad abused her mother & was a Narc himself, so she had a genetic component which is common with Narcissism. Then JD was her perfect target, he was abused by his own mother, so there was this love/abuse cycle he was born into. There are countless other examples. While I wouldn't avoid church per se, one has to be very selective who they let into their lives. Once one sees certain behaviors, cut off the relationship quickly and have no contact. While I studied Psychology in College, I'm not a therapist. I'm a real estate agent & my training in psychology prepared me for many of my clients. I've had a number of clients over the years who have some level of personality disorders. For those struggling with a Narcissist, I recommend HG Tudor's site, frankly I learned more on that channel than in my college major.

(Ie. mama Boys need not apply) That was very honest and fascinating. I appreciate your candour. What jumped out to me was that Tinder is a horrible way to meet someone - even if it is used differently in Mexico. You can pretty much be assured that people using this app will continue their search even after they start seeing/dating someone. It was nice to hear at the end of your video that you’ll be using fewer dating apps. They sound very convenient but awful. Being a KZbin celebrity must also add a level of difficulty to dating? Thanks for a fascinating peak into your private life and challenges around dating.

Gosh, looks like some of these guys assumed your were a rich, white North American girl and wanted to fetishism you (for your white skin, light hair, and light eyes) and then assume you should pay since they assume you were rich. So they came into this as "users/Grifters" from the beginning. Well, that is what I have experienced in the USA when I used to date certain type of men who assumed I was a fetish and would say some awful things to me where I knew they just wanted to "collect" experiences and had no intent on being serious. Glad you figured that out and got out of there. In any event, this was very helpful from a cultural point of view and communication point of view.

It's so hard to find someone who's not traveling, who is in his 30s but isn't already married with a family (especially since I've noticed they start having children young here), who isn't interested in me just because I'm from the US (they definitely comment on eye color a lot if you don't have brown eyes!), who is responsible, who is close with his family but doesn't need me as the "mommy role" like you'd mentioned, and in my preferred case, someone who doesn't drink or party a lot. Jessi, that is exceptionally good advice! And of course the opposite is true as well. Moms and dads, teach your daughters to be self-sufficient, loving, and productive members of society. They might just grow up to be an amazing adult like my daughter, Maddie! (Could we have a round of applause please! Lol)
