Personally for me, it doesn't matter if it is a live video performance or a MV, Band-Maid rocks. I have been listening to Band-Maid every day for years and it is still not enough. They also were vote as the best J-Rock band of 2022 which just proves a point...one step closer to World Domination (世界征服-sekai seifuku).

Maddy, Miku, who writes their lyrics, is almost always upbeat and forward looking. That is the reason they have prevailed for 10 years in a business that normally chews up and spits out new bands. By the way, Band Maid has a few rock ballads and emotionally uplifting songs. "Daydreaming" was an early song the Kanami wrote to give Saiki's voice a rest. "About Us" was a song written for Band Maid's fans when the pandemic shut down the world. "Memorable" is a love song to their fans after their 2022 tour in the U.S. If you like Live hard rock, check out the official live videos of "Puzzle" and "No God" filmed recently at the Tokyo Garden Theatre.

I believe you summed up beautifully what Band-Maid and other all female Japanese rock bands are all about. The sheer joy and positivity is overwhelming. All western hard rock seems dark and depressing. I loved this.

Miku Kobato, the rhythm guitarist, writes most of the lyrics with Saiki the lead vocalist apparently contributing more and more, from what I've read in interviews. There are a lot of literary and philosophical references. Miku's song, (Miku always has a song on their albums where she is the lead vocalist) 'Sayonakidori' is loosely based on Romeo and Juliet for example. She's truly a poet. I've been saying that a Band-Maid lyrics book would read like a great book of poetry! Here's a link to Sayonakidori. I smiled when you asked at the start if they were safe driving the cars around fast as it would be dangerous, because I knew there was still the shots to come of them strapped to the top of the vehicles. Band-Maid, like all female, Japanese bands, don't just bring complex, note-perfect and slamming music with them wherever they appear (either live or on their MV's), they always also bring happiness and smiles and a positive, friendly attitude. Miku also writes deep lyrics which reflect her personal thoughts on Life, rather than any simple words.

I understand exactly what you’re talking about. Interesting to hear you highlight a “gap” between the music and the lyric content. I honestly hadn’t thought of that yet. True, Band-Maid absolutely kills it live. The fans are the sixth band member. However, you like music videos? The Maids excel there, too. Here are some music videos that most Maidiacs would agree on: “Daydreaming,” uptempo ballad. Not what you’re expecting. A curveball from the Maids “From Now On,” heavy metal instrumental. No lyrics, but plenty of emotional impact. A “song without words.” Goosebumps guaranteed. “Influencer,” social media commentary in a fast-paced song without classification. Absolutely stunning setting and videography. C’mon Maidiacs! 🎉Let’s get Maddy to 10k subs and get this poor girl a new shirt 👚 😂

BAND-MAID are very up on the times and what is going on in the world! Miku Kobato is very prolific! Miku is 31 now and she writes most of the lyrics! She started out in an idol group, but said "Fuck that!" and began recruiting members for her own rock band back in 2012/2013! And all these members are amazing musicians!

Intense - yet happy and upbeat - and the song is ABOUT SOMETHING. That describes a typical Band-Maid song. Add Miku Kobato's lyrics to list of reasons why Band-Maid is a "Must Hear, Must See" band. I've seen a "The Making Of..." video for both "Influencer" and "Gion-Cho" but I *really* want to see one for "Warning!" I really want to know how in the World they talked Kanami into being strapped to the roof of a speeding car. I don't care that they were wearing harnesses, the support structures looked DANGEROUS! WTF were they thinking? Misa and Akane too! With a full drum set! Un-Freakin'-beleivable! Who was in charge of safety? Alec Baldwin? Notice that they couldn't get Saiki or Miku on top of either of those cars! And THE EXPLOSION was Waaaaay over the top!

Right, the topics of their lyrics are often anything but light or insignificant. And yet they usually package it in such a way that you still end up with more positive thoughts and more energy than before. This is something you can generally observe with a number of bands from Japan, and something I've talked about with a few people in the last few days. We're not necessarily used to it, are we? :) But these ladies can also be quite good at triggering tears when they want to, as songs like 'About Us', 'Memorable' or 'Daydreaming' prove. :) Short explanation: The first two of these are songs that are especially addressed to their fans. While 'About Us' was written during the lockdown months when they saw on social media how everyone was struggling, 'Memorable' is a song they wrote during their US tour last year. _____________________ _"Sometimes we laugh because we're sad or to hide our frustration"_ - from *Gacharic Spin* -「 I Wish I 」 🎶✨

I’ve been a band maid fan for years now. They came up after a gogo7188 video who was my introduction to Japanese rock. What Japan is doing musically is just so incredible. I’ve got a love for music deeper than I’ve ever felt and I don’t even understand the lyrics as they are being sung. Thankfully lots of the videos have cc and for the ones that don’t, fans have translated ❤️
