Really liked the vid, you have a unique film making style that's enjoyable to watch. I got hooked on it through your older videos. Otters! What an awesome wildlife sighting! Nice work getting em on film. Reminds me of the episode where you came around the corner and saw a moose. More intense but cool.

Lou has been an exceptional camp dog. Couldn't ask for more and yeah, she really loves it. Next up I'll be bringing our young Jack Russel, Toby. He's only 7 months right now so I'll break him in early :)

I'm loving these I watched the old ones several times like a movie on my flatscreen but honestly if you don't start making more of these I'm gonna be mad lol because I love your videos for some reason

Thanks man, I plan on shooting a lot of video this summer. I love that you watch them like a show on your TV and have found that others like to do this to. I'll be accommodating that style of viewing by releasing complete sets of the multi-part series to make for seamless viewing from beginning to end. Thanks for sharing.

Good start....just an FYI, YT has really changed so it's not uncommon to be doing all these videos in one single clip 45 mins or longer. I'll watch either way, but don't hesitate to post longer videos.
@MaddyTheGoose7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip. I'm actually planning on releasing the video in it's entirety later but have set it on a schedule for a couple of reasons; youtube encourages and rewards releases over time and I personally enjoy channels that release content on a regular schedule. It tends to connect you a little more with the channel and gives you something to look forward to, kind of like a TV show. Thanks for all your comments, I read them all :)
@TheWoodedBeardsman7 жыл бұрын
I do the same! I'm glad that you started back out again. I understand your life was probably far too busy with kids and work and all to be out playing in the woods. I think if you can stay regular you can probably even make a decent living doing this. I think if you had stuck to it by now you'd be there. I realize too, that at the time, there really wasn't anyone making a living from YT...I've been through it as well, in fits and starts and missed the boat a little, but if you work hard at it, you could get there. But you do need a lot of subscribers in order for it to make sense. Good luck and I'll be watching. I have always enjoyed your videos.

Very enjoyable videos as usual, nice calming pace but a week between offerings takes us out of the story. Will have to wait the last one to start watching.

I hear you and I've got you covered. Once all parts of the video have been released, I'll put out a full version in a single video. I'll also be looking to do this with my previous multi-part series that span multiple videos. Thanks for taking the time to write and hope you enjoy.

25 lbs pack for all your stuff that's awesome. I'd love to see a vid with all your gear laid out.
@MaddyTheGoose7 жыл бұрын
Stay tuned, I'm long overdue for an updated gear list. Btw, the 25lbs is my base pack (no food or water) weight and it doesn't include the items that most people wouldn't be taking such as dog stuff and the extra camera gear. It's basically the base pack weight of a solo hiker. I'll break down the weight more in future videos. Thanks for watching man.

With a 25lbs base weight for your pack you have sure scaled back from your 8 day trip with Maddie. Weren't you carrying about 80 lbs back then? Middle aged bodies bring out the inner minimalist-camping mindset in all of us. Wish you would post some videos of "lessons learned" from the past 5 years of video silience. It would be nice to catch up with you and to compare notes. Thanks for the videos. I look forward to Thursdays.

Do you train your dogs in order for them to keep pace with you and not go crazy running into the woods ?
@MaddyTheGoose7 жыл бұрын
Good question, Ny Jeep Adventurer is right, they do tend to stay pretty close. Having said that, I won't go into the woods with a dog unless they have excellent recall and will stay put when told. I have a few tips for training dogs for the woods that I'll be covering in future videos.

What canoe do you have and how much does it weigh. Been starting to look for one
@MaddyTheGoose7 жыл бұрын
It's a 16' Souris River Prospector and weighs in at around 41lbs. They're not the cheapest but for me, it was worth it. It's a solid, comfortable and obviously light 16 foot boat. I added some protection on the front and back which has really held up well. Hope you're happy with whatever you end up choosing.

What tarp do you use?
@MaddyTheGoose7 жыл бұрын
It's the Integral Designs Siltarp 2 (2.4m x 3m). I picked it up at MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op). Excellent piece of gear.

0:23 Base pack weight w/ dog gear (5 lbs) and camera gear (3 lbs) ....Under 35 lbs what is the canoe weight ? Map of catfish lake www.mcelroy.ca/location/Catfish+Lake
@MaddyTheGoose7 жыл бұрын
The canoe itself comes in at around 40lbs and then the paddles, life jacket and the rest of the boat stuff comes in at around 10lbs or so. I'm going to break down all the weight more accurately in future videos this summer.

I noticed Lou doesn't sport a life jacket. Is she a better swimmer than Maddy was?
@MaddyTheGoose7 жыл бұрын
Actually, what I used most on the lifejacket was the handle so I could easily move Maddy around if required for things like tossing her in or out of the boat or easily pulling her out of the water. I found I was using it less and less so I've finally dropped it. Thanks for tuning in.

I enjoy watching all camping videos. PLEASE consider using a raincoat and most importantly a flotation device for Lu. I believe her DNA mix will prove her not to be a capable swimmer. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
