Some years ago I was at my local coop getting my groceries checked out. The clerk asked if I had any plans for the weekend. I told him I was taking a month off and I had never so done such a thing before. And he said “Remember self care is not a sign of personal weakness”. I have never forgotten that.

I'm not a very good delegator at home. I want to delegate when I worked in different jobs and there has to be teamwork. However I always check the extra load even then. Sometimes life lessons are sent to us and mysterious ways and this is your opportunity to learn to share and have company while you work.

Don’t look too far ahead, the stress of it can be overwhelming. Take a day at a time,I’am the same way about doing every thing myself, hard to admit that one needs help…but once you do it gets easier to ask for some help…also, remember the world isn’t going to end if you take a day to take care of you,it’s also hard to do nothing for a day,but well worth it.

I was so thankful when Brooke said she decided to ask for help on the farm. That will not only be beneficial to Brooke it will also allow Jason, MaryCarl and Brooke's Mom to feel they are useful, important and trusted members of her team working toward her improving health. It's obvious Brooke finds joy in helping her loved ones, always without hesitation. I have zero doubt her family will experience the exact same joy and happiness. In a perfect world no-one would ever need help but the reality is we do. We are human. It's definitely not a sign of weakness to ask for help - I consider it to be a true sign of strength, trust, respect and love. All 4 human residents on Cog Hill have all those positive traits and more. I believe Brooke's decision will make the family bond even stronger.

Yes, we have a part to play and so has the Lord. God bless you with wisdom, knowledge, strength, joy, and understanding. Brooke, have you heard of Hoshimoto’s? A lot of your symptoms sound similar to mine. A disorder that happens when the immune system attacks the thyroid - a butterfly-shaped gland at the base of the neck just below the Adam's apple. In Hashimoto's disease, the immune system causes the death of the cells in the thyroid that make hormones. The disease usually causes a drop in the amount of hormones the thyroid makes. That condition is called hypothyroidism. Although anyone can develop Hashimoto's disease, it's most common among middle-aged women. Hashimoto's disease slowly gets worse over time. Symptoms may not be noticeable. Eventually, the drop in thyroid hormone triggers a variety of symptoms. They may include fatigue; extra sensitivity to cold; dry skin; constipation; muscle weakness; thyroid swelling; depression; and muscle and joint aches, tenderness and stiffness, among others

Brooke, I love your videos! You are doing so well with these videos. I just realized that. I remember the first few you did and how very careful you were, but you are loosening up in narration of the videos as you are filming now, and the animals are enjoying them too! The kitties "helping" you with adjusting the camera angle (over and over) and the lower down baby goat shot was so cute when they saw you across the pasture and finally came running to overtake you! And taking off your earrings, just in case! And I always talk to my animals and they love that, too! Anyway, I am glad you are asking for help when you need it! We are all here for you! 😊
