I have to say i absolutely love you guys!!! Gary is right ,Mel you have overcome so much during this build you dont actually realize how much that is and you GF are doing spectacular at overcoming the build and the rudeness from some (BAD) commentators!! But for every bad one there is 50 good ones so just keep ignoring those, keep your head high, and just realize all that you have overcome in this friggin awesome journey to the TOP OF YOUR WORLD!!!!!! You are both very special to alot of us not just me and the way these kids have grown is unreal!! They are so good and help alot more then we will ever know and have overcome some of their own fears as well!!! Mel you are a rock star and are handling everything very well and Gary knows what you need and when to give you just the right compliment at just the right moment!!! Cant wait to see the tin on the building and i think i would try the rust color!! I put that on my shop and it is great and looks good!!!

Don’t cut out the windows until after you get the roof on. It makes the walls stronger and with you standing up there on the roof, you are going to want the walls to be as strong as possible.

The stain for the wood could be almost like the bracing board behind y'all where you were sitting. Or the color of the inside of the zip board. I agree with Gary about the color on the roof-lighter better than darker. Jmo.

So happy for you being able to get back on the mud room. I know it feels good to make more progress. One thought, since you haven't done the heat/AC vents etc. for the house, why not consider putting at least one vent into the mud room to help with heating and cooling without need to rely on what you can "pull" through the windows? Can' wait to see the next step ("when?" - LOL). Love watching you guys and you are making great progress! Have an awesome week enjoying the nicer weather.

Hi 👋 I have a thought... I only get one a week ... Please check in to "Lumber Jack Tools" for the log truss under the covered area and for banisters on the back deck ..the tools cuts a round tennen and uses a forstner bit to drill the hole for the tennen . Vevor carries them and I know Vevor has done sponsorships for the fram before ... The chairs, sofas, tables, bannisters, and stools were everywhere in the 50's. All from harvested wood (no cost) ... Great Build...Great Kids.. Go Team Go ...

I'm getting a metal roof and the guy told me don't pick green it fades the most. He said black does not suck up the heat like you think it would. But for you I would pick a dark brown.

I've seen the bronze and it is powerful, overbearing and it doesn't match most paint colors. The metal plain color is the most common and it doesn't draw heat, cause we have it on our house and its fine. I was told by the metal company that the painted metals draw the most heat.

In 1980, fate allowed me to secure a 30-year loan (that was paid off in 22 years by skipping eating out and vacation trips) for a 2-bedroom bachelor bungalow. The very first structural improvement was a new cover for the roof. Altho i prefer blue (choice of the rich & famous per Home Beautiful), the summer temperature was 105 degrees in 1980 (in 2024, 2 weeks of July and Aug. reached 115). So, common sense required a 5-foot by 3-foot, white gravel tar paper layers(50-year guarantee). That white reflects the heat so well that i don't need central air conditioning (ceiling fans work just fine) . And the bonus that makes me smile is that in the winter it looks like a thin layer of snow that never melts.

✨💯✨Red, black, green or that bronze will look good with your exterior color.. (Get Samples). BIG NO ON SILVER🔥🔥. I put it on my house and it stands out bad. Also its so freakin bright like your back wall was. Wish I had gone black. My neighbor has it and it makes no difference on heating and cooling for them. Just insulate real well. Hope this helps.
