Thanks to Beatrice for all the hard work putting this demonstration together. There are so many great ideas here. I will be happy, for now, getting one or two down. My sound is sparse and I think the drama of just one of these elements will make a huge impact. Beatrice must have enormous headroom as her CPU never seems to go over 60% even with all the effects and plug ins.

Macbook with Apple Silicon chip is the answer :) I have Macbook Air M1 with 16 GB RAM for 3 years now and it works like a charm even with many CPU heavy synths in my project.

Thanks, nice techniques and impressive number of layers ! I got one question though: I was always told not to automate the volume but rather to put a utility and automate the gain, otherwise it might get complicated at the final mix stage. Any specific reason for automating the volume ?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding right but the only reason why you would use a utility instead of automating the volume fader is because if you use a utility you can still use the fader to turn it up or down in the mix. If you automate the volume fader you won't have any control over the volume fader. Like if you needed to turn it up or down they only way is to automate it or put a utility on it and now your utilities gain knob is now acting as your volume fader. Nah mean?
