Dude.... You are a BEAST!!!! This is the direction I'm headed in and it looks more and more like the Abelton work flow is the one for me. I like the way you use the samples and patterns you made in a separate session ( a day for just sound design ) and then plucked stuff out for use in the arrangement. Thank you for the inspiration. Looks like I'm going in the right direction.

I can’t believe that you just posted this video today. There is no video or explanation anywhere that I have seen that tells me how to take these midi clips and time them out into a song. I am new at this and I can make an edit the clips all day long but timing them out to a song is not discussed anywhere. I’m only five-ten minutes in, but I think you’re going in that direction so thank you very much
@into.cassette
@into.cassette 2 жыл бұрын
I hear you. so anything in MIDI will sync to the project BPM. but Zach also chops audio samples on the grid to keep them in time. or plays synths live and records via audio. you might want to research Ableton warp modes, transport controls, tempo sync, beat matching, clips (audio vs midi), arrangement etc to understand more.
@hfleah
@hfleah 2 жыл бұрын
@@into.cassette I’m talking about taking these clips and putting them in order to create a song. (Believe me I have problems with tempo too) but I’m talking about laying it out into a song because they’re just little clips that loop loop loop all together and I want to put one clip at the beginning of the song and another clip halfway through. Anyway, I’ll get there eventually.
@hfleah
@hfleah 2 жыл бұрын
@@into.cassette So, in other words if I have three midi clips looped in their first slots. I push play and they all play at once. How can I get one to play at this time, and then get another midi clip to play at another time. I don’t want them all to start at once and just keep looping. I might be too much of a beginner. 🤔
@tony6795
@tony6795 2 жыл бұрын
@@hfleah Hi Leah, you may have already figured this out since your comment was from a couple days ago. You will want the midi clips you have on different rows so they won't play at the same time. Zach is also working in the arrangement view in this video - which is geared to recording/editing a song. I suggest you watch some videos on the differences between Session and Arrangement views, play around in Ableton some more, and you will be right as rain! :) Also, I know manuals are no fun, but having a copy of Ableton's manual open so you can quickly refer to it when things get weird can help a ton!
@hfleah
@hfleah 2 жыл бұрын
@@tony6795 thank you so much! I have both views figures out for audio, and I can create a midi song in the view that Zach used. Its the view that are columns with those midi clip slots that I don’t get. No matter where I put them, they all play at once. I’ll figure it out. I appreciate the info!

@Ableton

Hi! When we developed Live 10, we were unaware of the coming M1 silicon hardware. Since Live 10 runs sufficiently well under Rosetta, we don't anticipate a native port any time soon. More information on this can be found here: bit.ly/3snAZQK. Cheers!
