I actually feel as though despite his inhumane actions he is one of the most human characters in the series. @@urielgarcia6327 I disagree here, it is outright stated that the Zoaholic destroyed his humanity and mind, so your interpretation is far from intended, doesn't necessarily make it wrong though. But still, his actions and mindset alone don't click as human to me. He clearly admires the riko group, as well as all those children he killed, yet contradictorily, he did what he did. He still clearly does mean what he says though, he's just completely divorced from anything but his own goals, and while some people definitely are very much like that, to this degree is so far gone that I would never consider it a major part of what makes us human.

@@jivasche3029 Srajo and Wakuna just sound like they're huge weirdos tbh. Though likely harmful weirdos. Lyza is probably called the Annihilator because of her destructive capabilities. Ozen was named the Inmovable Sovereign because she's like a wall. Bondrewed was named the Lord of the Dawn because his scientific discoveries are like the dawn of a new age in science. The Lord of Mystery will probably directly relate to the abyss (maybe they've discovered the most artifacts?), while the Lord of Guidance is likely responsible for building the elevators down into the abyss, or maybe the construction of the place where Ozen lives. But I don't think there's anything sinister going on with Lyza's name at all. The 2000 year cycle. It's been 1900 years since the time of the praying skeletons. Soon the Abyss will rise to swallow up Orth (and maybe far more) and add a new layer. Bondrewd wants to find a way to endure the cycle and see "the dawn". Hence he speaks of "the next 2000 years". Well, that's the theory anyway.

This song and Bondrewd in general are honestly really creepy. The man actually seems to genuinely love and care for his children. I honestly think the events with Prushka and the white whistle were expected. But apart from that, it's weird how humanly inhuman he is. He's sacrificed everything he can for his goals, if I remember his conversation with Nanachi correctly. He uses other people because he's no longer viable for his own experiments anymore. I don't think he comprehends the idea of pain anymore after all he's done. And he doesn't see what he does as horrific. He seems to think that everyone's as happy as he is to be contributing to science.

Bondrewd is the embodiment of what being a White Whistle means. Black Whistle are peak experience and knowledge when it comes to dwelling into the Abyss, the greatest explorers a human can ever dream to be. White Whistles are people who wanted to achieve more, so they transcended their human condition. And by doing so, they discarded part of that humanity, for humans were not meant to do what they do. They are not mad. They are not soulless. They are not humans, they are both above and below that. They watched the Abyss and decided they'd rather be a part of it than mankind.

For those that have yet to fully grasp the amazing villain that Bondrewd from Made in Abyss is: Bondrewd is a “being” (he isn’t physically classified as human presently due to certain reasons) who possesses absolutely no ill intent. Bondrewd has been shown to understand if not possess a limited amount of emotion, but his moral compass is completely governed by logic rather than morality. In spite of his terrible actions he is rather charismatic, and is excellent at interacting with people. The result is a polarizing individual who either makes people despise or adore him. His goal is to find a way for mankind to be able to freely traverse the lower levels of the Abyss without the fear of dying or losing one’s sense of self. Because he is incredibly knowledgeable about the Abyss, and his experiments do in fact yield results, his presence has been tolerated. The fact that he remains in the 5th layer is also why people allow him to continue with his questionable methods, because few traverse to such depths anyway making his activities largely unknown. Those who do know usually hate him, but turn a blind eye given that he is effectively unkillable as a result of the massive amount of artifacts, followers, and knowledge Bondrewd possesses.
@MrCmon113

>who possesses absolutely no ill intent Would you like to suffer as an amorphous monster in a dark pit for years, if not decades? Because that was his intent for hundreds of children. >his moral compass is completely governed by logic rather than morality That's completely meaningless and just shows that you have no clue what "logic" means. >In spite of his terrible actions he is rather charismatic Why "in spite of"? Being terrible doesn't hinder you from being charismatic at all. And yes, him being soft spoken - not even charismatic, just literally even tempered, is the only reason you come up with a bunch of dumbass excuses. He never justifies himself. You feel the need to. >his questionable methods If that's "questionable" to you, maybe you're the one, who isn't "governed by morality" at all.
@idofx8722
@idofx8722 Жыл бұрын
@@MrCmon113 His goal (intention) was not to bring suffering to said children, that was simply an outcome he deemed acceptable through this neat thing we call LOGIC. Logic has many various definitions and uses, in this particular case, we can use this one- *the quality of being justifiable by reason*. He had his reason. Did it make it morally acceptable? OF COURSE NOT! But through pure logical analysis, he came to the conclusion that their suffering was acceptable because they were orphan children, cast out and unwanted by society and in this way they could be helpful and contribute something. A fucked up sense of reasoning? Absolutely. But these methods resulted in him making some breakthrough’s, albeit so few it isn’t even anywhere near morally justifiable. Lastly the questionable methods I was referring to, was using the very bounty hunters and hitmen sent to remove him from the picture, as his personal research and observation teams. He states in the beginning that all of the orphans would be able to help make important discoveries within the abyss, and that was in fact, a terrible truth.

I first clicked on this video because of the indescribably cool art and then listened to this amazing song a lot. Reading the comments gave me some idea of what kind of person the guy depicted is, but it felt like something from some game which would have an amazing story if you got invested into it, but meant nothing to an outsider. Then to my surprise I realised this was from an anime. I saw Made in Abyss and really liked the show, until I got to the movie "Dawn of the Deep Soul" and I finally got to experience what an incredible character Bondrewd is. Truly subarashii

From what I could ascertain, the song’s vocals aren’t a conlang per se, but do appear to be a jumble of words from various languages, primarily Spanish, French, and Japanese. Reading between the lines a bit with what I could translate and taking a touch of poetic liberty, this is what I made sense of regarding anything like a translation of the lyrics: “In the holy sea, At the heart of it all: The end of everything, An end without struggle. The sky, the sky It sings The song of the brightest soul. The sky, the sky, Now void of color, The sum of all you strove for . . . I am going to die here! So cruel, the sky, It burns with such heat! There is a pit which beckons his steps . . . The sky, the sky . . . It won’t save you Or all you have achieved. At the heart of all you value, In the midst of death, I am with you! In his victory, he has died. Without you, her soul will sing. The tower, the tower! My heart! In the dark, we have each other. Escape with your life!” As others who have tried to make sense of it quite well have surmised, it appears to be the souls of the cartridges singing to each other about Bondrewd and the Abyss in a multitude of languages, and longing to see the sky again but knowing neither they nor Bondrewd ever will again. Thus, they curse him in their grief and warn Reg and the others to flee while they can.

Bondrewd is a villain that just gets better and better as you think about him! He's a genuinely kind and caring person who just expresses his kindness and caring in strange ways, and who prioritizes the advancement of humanity over anything else. He doesn't omit himself from his cruel experiments, and he doesn't think of the people he uses as cattle or chaff, but remembers the names and personalities of everyone he ever sacrificed in pursuit of his goals is just so deeply unsettling. His goals are understandable, even laudable, but the methods he uses to achieve them are unthinkable, yet, he never quite looses his humanity, there's a glimpse of it in everything he does, of human ambition and human kindness, and he never thinks himself above the process, willing to sacrifice whatever it takes from himself or others to further his goals.

Bondrewd's morality went over most people's heads. The movie spells it out from the very start, by showing the hive of parasitic insects in the flower field. Bondrewd died a long time ago to become his white whistle. An abyssal plant is possessing its hosts and mimicking the original Bondrewd. He is unsettlingly immoral because he is literally a plant hivemind loosely carrying out his postmortem will. Honestly, its entirely possible the original Bondrewd never intended for any of this to happen. He could have been an affable family man who genuinely sacrificed himself for an immortal body to carry out the greater good. Either way, I wouldn't consider him to be evil in the slightest. He's a force of nature, just another testament to the horrors of the abyss.
