Bonus upload for today. I'd been wanting to do this one for weeks...really ever since I first heard it while watching the show. This track's magical feel is a perfect fit for a variety of situations. Whether it's exploring in a dungeon, trying to focus on studying, reading the manga or even sleeping. I typically only do 30-minute extensions but this needed to be 1 hour. It's softer than what I usually upload but hopefully it helps to showcase my broad taste in music. I'm also hoping others like it as much as I do. Enjoy.

And Season 2 is over. So what did you all think? Was it worth the almost 5 year wait? Well I guess if you only count from after Dawn of the Deep Soul it was only 2.5 years, but still. In my opinion...damn that was one hell of a ride. The animation and sound design were all top notch and Kevin Penkin's OST was a treat for the ears as always but I absolutely have to hand it to Kuno Misaki as the MVP. She truly brought Faputa to life. Like for real, those screams were something else. One of the most impressive voice performances I've ever heard. And now we wait...until the next venture into the depths sosu.

I absolutely loved it! It was such a wild ride from start to finish. Sucks that I am probably going to have to wait another 5 years at least for a continuation of some sort though 😔. I kinda figured that the season would be a bit slower than the first, but I gotta say, I'm genuinely surprised we didn't get to the 7th layer by the end. That's not a bad thing though! It just means I have more story to look forward to! See you all in 2027-ish!

If you liked the cute comfy appeal with dark undertones, check out Girl's Last Tour. Same Animation company. About 2 girls traversing a crumbling city after some apocalyptic war. WWII aesthetic mostly. It's got a similar vibe. As for video games, Final Fantasy 9 and Hollow Knight have a similar vibe, of cutesy worlds hiding horrifying true natures.

This theme, despite being the theme of the 1st layer of the abyss, which has more of a "we're starting our journey to the mysterious abyss" vibe, fits perfectly even the 6th layer, specifically the flashback of the village origins. While this soundtrack is innocent, magical and slightly adventurous, such innocence can intensify the moral ambiguity and horrors of the f*cked up events that took place in the 6th layer. Goddamn!

The closest thing to made in abyss in real life is Scuba Diving. There is just as much mystery as you go down. Finding bottles and relics from the past (no seriously, I have so many old bottles from scuba diving. its crazy). The flora and fauna you see are crazy. Another parallel that made in abyss makes (either intentionally or not) is the cost of coming back up. If you come up too fast from too deep it will kill you. But that is the worst-case scenario. Before that, there are smaller pains you get, the most minor being a headache (another interesting thing that can happen at any depth, even from 15 feet to surface, is that if you hold your breath, the air expanding in your lungs can cause them to be damaged, and at worst burst). These effects are caused by nitrogen in your body that is built up from breathing the air that has been compressed at depth getting into your bloodstream, and if there is a bubble too big that makes it to your brain, you die.) Either way, when you descend a rope 130 feet into an inky blackness where you are completely reliant on your gear, and the only reason you can see is a flashlight, there is a fantastic euphoria and tension in you. The knowledge that you are doing what many would fear with intensity unrivaled... is fascinating.

I'm also going to throw out another promo (because I love music) for an artist I just recently discovered. Kind of embarrassing I only just now came across them but the YT Abyss is vast and unforgiving. Some of you may have already heard of Daniel Jimenez aka ROZEN but if you haven't, let me just say if you have a love for The Legend of Zelda and in particular the music, you should give his stuff a listen. It's absolutely amazing. In my opinion, some of it is in the same vein as Kevin Penkin's style (more specifically his work on Shield Hero) so if that sounds like something up your alley I highly recommend him. Most of those recommendations are shonen-esq, which isn't like Made in Abyss, even if they are good anime. If you want something similar to Made in Abyss check out Girl's Last Tour and Berserk. If you like video games try Final Fantasy 9 and Hollow Knight. They share that same cutesy look with a world hiding a horrifying true nature.

there's something about the abyss and this song as well that is truly horrifying it is that feeling of the unknown and the mysterious i can't really describe it... it's lovecraftian imagine looking into the dark see or the starry night and knowing! not merely speculating that there is something more out there more mysteries to uncover but not only that but also great horrors simply i love it
