The average depth of swedish waters in the baltic is 55 meters. It makes it one of the most difficult places on earth to conduct asw, it also makes it one of the most difficult places to navigate with a submarine because if you are detected there is nowere for you to hide.

I would love to see actual Swedish forces. The RB-15 missile is no joke. Also, our missile- and patrol boats all had ASW.

Your helo wouldn't move because it's dipping sonar was still deployed (though you couldn't see it, that was a bug.). Had you told it to reel it in it should have done so and been clear to maneuver.

This actually was a thing in Sweden during the 80s; it was on the news almost every day. NOT the ships going at it but the asw. The problem the Swedish Navy had was that the topography in the Swedish archipelago is the worst place for ASW. Another thing was that the CCCP used tracked underwater " vehicles." ask me how i know!

Well, the BIG problem wasn't topography. It was politics. Our leadership was too afraid to upset the Soviets, so we usually dropped depth charges where submarines HAD BEEN 30 minutes prior, just to show that we knew they were there. I did my mandatory military service in the naval forces (navy and marines) in the 90's.

Sweden used to have stationary magnet lines and mine lines in strategic parts of the archipelago around key ports, military installations and expected landing sites for an invading force [the CCCP and the Warsaw Pact], this could potentially been simulated in the scenario, hence the initial indications of submarine contacts while on EMCOM. The mortar on the ASW load out is to simulate the Swedish anti submarine plattform ELMA that was [and still are] mounted on various naval vessels in the Swedish navy.

A great mission that had me down to a couple of ships gunning it out with the enemy boats. Those wake homing torps are very nasty to try and avoid. A knife fight of a scenario.

Presumably it could be, but it has a much shorter range and probably lower rate of fire than an RBU so it wouldn't be nearly as effective.

To respawn a unit on the F10 menu, use the Test Mode tab and the respawn button there, you can select the relevant load out from there. Alternatively, as you did, in the Spawn menu, you should select it to spawn in the world or at Camera (world button click to Camera) and you can press the next button to spawn in addition, or replace selected unit. Saves messing around.

Pretty pathetic when you watch your torpedo have to dodge a broadside enemy submarine at short range so the torpedo doesn’t hit it. 😮

(37:15) So, the Penguin is IR guided, and the Petya does not come equipped with flares as far as I know... so I don't think the Chaff should have fooled it... Ah well, chalk it up to early access I guess.

I don't see why you didn't immediatelly drop at least sonobuoy at arrival of each sub's position? Were you prepared to play long "chess game" while russians dropped torpedoes around them at first sighting of ANY target?? Or even drop a torp while closing to the position? Speed seemed to be of importance...

Adding models into the game is possible, yes, but not easy.

Still trying to win this one. Need to ignore the PT boats and concentrate on the subs. Shallow water sucks for Helo torps. Do you really get some extra helos spawned later in the scenario?
