Shoestring (and others who commented about how the audio sounds): @4:20, is a good example of what's going on. The active (background) noise is so loud, the little computers "confused" about what's background noise and what's real voice. The noise of the train is very loud and it's trying to attenuate it. But, notice how when Shoestring says "Another ethanol train". His voice is clear despite the very loud noise of the passing train about 30 feet away. The background noise reduction circuit is doing it's job. If it were not, Shoestring would have to yell over the noise of the train in order to be heard in the video. When he isn't talking and the sound sounds like it's underwater, the circuit is continually saying, "I hear background noise. I must attenuate it. But it's so loud! Maybe I should let some through. Should I filter it out? No, I'll let some through. No wait, it's background noise. I should filter it. But is it? I hear background noise. I must attenuate it. But it's so loud!..." It's going it's job and we heard his voice clearly when he spoke. :)
