Good, easy to understand video. I use this for my 14 Liter Nano Tank. A very cheap and effective method to produce CO2. I don`t have a diffusor like your`s, I use an airstone hanging free in the tank. At day, when more CO2 is needed for my plants, I hang it down to the bottom of the tank. In the night, when no CO2 is needed, I lift the airstone to the water surface. So I don`t need to take the tube away every time.

One thing I noticed, in my experiences, is hot glue can sometimes fall apart when exposed to humidity for prolonged amounts of time, such as a DIY CO2 system… just saying. It may work for some people, and it is very useful for many things, but when water is involved it can become disintegrated or corroded, possibly causing a leak in the system. But I would just stick with the waterproof silicone to avoid that. 😀

Thank you so much. I followed it step by step. Co2 is getting generated but what ever I have done so far, the gas is not passing through the diffuser. It is passing through all other makeshift bubbling tubes but not the diffuser. Can you help please
@madebykm5 ай бұрын
First, check if the CO2 system has any leaks. For this, you need to entirely submerge the CO2 system (with the CO2 diffuser attached to the system) in a bucket of water. If you see bubbles coming out of any joints, there is a leak, and you need to fix it accordingly. But if you find that there are no leaks in the system, wait a few hours as these CO2 diffusers need some pressure to work. When enough pressure builds up in the bottle, the diffuser will work.

I want to say first and foremost thank you so much for the video. I’ve watched tons and yours is by far the best! I want to make sure I’ve done this correctly. I’ve had it set up for a couple hours now and I’m seeing bubbles in the bottle with water in it (no bubbles are forming in the diffuser 😕). But only 1 bubble every 21 seconds. I’ve checked for leaks and I don’t have any. Does it need more time to build up co2? Or should I make the yeast water again with more yeast? I halved the amount of each ingredient because the bottle I have is not large enough.
@madebykm3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will take more time for the pressure to build up and then the diffuser will work. You don’t have to make the yeast-water again, just add more yeast to the solution, CO2 production will increase. For more information, please see the video description. Thank you.

Hello sir,😊 I have seen your both co2 videos.. Which one is better agar agar powder method or jelly mix method ?

Both will work fine, but jelly mix method is a bit cheaper.

Inspired Sir, only one quarry, If I detach the tubing of the co2 generator from the check valve then co2 gas will filled up at home, is this correct?
@madebykm Жыл бұрын
No problem, our atmosphere contains much more CO2 than that.
@madebykm Жыл бұрын
The amount of CO2 produced here is very small and it is nothing compared to the amount of CO2 present in our environment.

Excellent video thanks im going to try this, just two questions though you mention the small bottle is used as a bubble counter what is the best way to increase or decrese this? Also when you disconnect the Co2 for the evening is this dangerous meaning Co2 will be pumped into a living space?
@madebykm2 жыл бұрын
In this process, the rate of bubbles cannot be controlled, it can only be seen in the small bottle. If you want to increase the CO2 production / bubble rate, you need to use more yeast (eg 1/2 - 1 tsp). And if you disconnect the CO2 tubing, it's not dangerous at all, because very little CO2 will be produced in the process. The air naturally contains much more CO2 than this. For more information please check out the video description. Thank you.

@@madebykm thank you for replying i will be trying this although agar agar seems difficult to get in Australia although not impossible is gelatine the same or best to just get agar thanks
@madebykm2 жыл бұрын
You can also use Gelatin, but the problem is jelly made using gelatin usually melts at outside / room temperature (25°C-40°C). Gelatin works well in cold environments (

What happens if this puts too much co2 in the water? That's what I'm worried about because apparently it can kill your fish. Really good video btw!
@madebykm10 ай бұрын
The CO2 concentration above 30-35 ppm in aquarium water is toxic for most aquarium life. A single CO2 generator such as this will never produce that much CO2. Therefore, it is completely safe for all aquarium life. The CO2 production in this method also depends on the amount of yeast used. More yeast = more CO2. This means that you can easily control the CO2 production by adjusting the amount of yeast and thus get your required CO2 rate (bubbles per second) for your tank. You can also use a CO2 drop checker to measure the CO2 levels in your tank. Thank you.

Hi Kausik. It's a great video. Can I use gelatin powder instead of agar agar powder. I can't find it in Nepal.
@madebykm3 жыл бұрын
Actually, using gelatin will not produce good results. This is because the jelly made using gelatin melts at outside temperature (25°C-40°C). You can watch my other video on making CO2 using jelly crystals. Thank you.

Hi sir, I did the jelly CO2 was quite successful Thank you. As we cannot stop the chemical reaction, my question is in the night when CO2 is not required if we detach the pipe the CO2 will be released outside and it is wasted right is there any solution for this.

@anitamondal70393 жыл бұрын
You can store the gas in another container..as we all know gases can really compress a lot under pressure,so any container would work...store the co2 in it for a month and use a regulated valve by which u can control the flow..to the tank.

Hi sir. I have important question. Thanks so much for your video, it helps me a lot. 1. How long (in hour) would you recommend the Agar-agar turns to jelly before i can put the yeast inside? 2. I've waited for 1 day, but the diffuser still didn't produce co2, whether glass or ceramic diffuser. Is this normal? 3. The yeast is leaking from the co2 generator bottle, how do i overcome this? Thanks so much for your video again.

I have a 20 gallon planted tank, with 30 watt lights, and a hang-on-filter. I've created this DIY Co2 generator, but my worry is that the surface agitation from the HOB-filter will remove the Co2 in water. What are your thoughts? Thank you in advance!!
@madebykm2 жыл бұрын
Don’t worry, surface agitation is necessary for gas exchange and that HOB filter does not have that ability to create such a strong surface agitation that all the CO2 gas escapes from the water.
