Hi Guys. A lot of you write about the continuous work of this set, but I haven't mentioned it anywhere. This will be used in a cycle of 10 seconds on, 5 minutes off, so no worries. Some of you may ask "why didn't you buy a hydraulic power pack on ebay?" It is because I wanted to see if it is possible to make such a set and if it will work, and learn more about power hydraulics :)

@@zumbazumba1 the same thing was running through my mind when I started watching the video. I have the same starter motor, a few years ago I wanted to make a belt grinder from it, but everyone suggested otherwise. These motors are not designed to run for a long time, so they have no ventilation and cooling system. The motor will eventually heat up and the winding will burn.

I bought a second-hand 4 tonne excavator for my farm last month and have been learning how hydraulics work as well so I can service it myself, which is why I instantly knew what you were doing with the oil reservoir! It's absolutely incredible to me the amount of power such small pumps and motors can produce.

here, a safety valve is also needed to avoid overload at idle and a damper between the hydraulic pump and the engine, since this pump has no bearings, and the aluminum bushings quickly break if the drive is poorly aligned with the pump. And this electric motor will burn out, since it is not designed for long-term operation.

@GMT {FS} that's not true, you'd have to order from abroad, pay expensive shipping and duty costs. not worth it for the hobbyist. and for people that don't know, duty tax is based on the cost of the shipping plus the cost of and insurance of what you ordered. it gets very expensive to import things.

I agree with what others have said about having a switch activate the pump when the lever is moved, would simplify things a bit. Also, you should incorporate a pressure relief valve. This will prevent stalling of the pump and motor when situations arise that could do so, such as when the ram hits end of travel, or load is too high for the system.

Like the setup but be interested to know in how long the starter will last and under how much load it cooks the brushes or solenoid, only as i have never had much luck using them for projects like this as they tend to burn out due to large amp draw. It is actually people like yourself who make others think outside the box so thanks :)

Most automotive starters have what is called a 5 and 5 duty cycle. It simply means that you can run for a maximum of 5 seconds and then 5 seconds off. If you extend the run time to say 10 seconds and the cool time left at 5 seconds, it would last significantly shorter and it would still burn out prematurely against normal usage. This is due to the fact that these motors have no provision for cooling. If you were to place the motor in a container that would hold dry ice, the cooling effect would make the motor last much longer.

This is why I believe even after an "apocalyptic" event there's still half a million dudes in the us rn who do this for a living, well be fine. Wifi will be back up in 2 weeks

Actually, in the event of an apocalypse, I will be setting up a mesh network with read-only access to my storage drives within a day.

@@ddiablolll If the nuke is close enough for the EMP to matter, I probably have other things to worry about. That said, the house I'm in is practically a bunker, so some of the drives in my 24TB RAID array will probably survive.

Świetny film i super pomysł!!! Na marginesie: pompy zębatej nie można łączyć na sztywno z napędem ponieważ dosyć szybko dojdzie do jej uszkodzenia, konieczne jest zastosowanie sprzęgła elastycznego. Pozdrawiam! Duży szacun za całokształt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
