Madeira Portugal | Funchal Lido Evening walking tour

Where should I start. This was a wonderful walk. I have so many questions. This is one place I would love to visit. A lot of coffee, wine, food and.... ice cream for my wife. I find afternoon and night walks are very interesting. It was like I was there. I did not see a lot of bicycles. Are they allowed? My wife says you must be in great shape. A lot of walking. Well good morning HD, pleased you enjoyed strolling in Madeira. We have fallen in love with the Island, so I can quite see why you'd want to go. It's a bit too hilly for bikes but you do see some tough people in the mountains going for it, and there are cycle paths on the flat bits. Def' better for walking I'd say. Why not go at Christmas time, (we'll be there again in Dec' and January and it'd be great to meet someday!) It's the best time to go as even if you're not a lover of the season like me, they do seduce you into liking it, as they do there best to make it perfectly magical. I have a few more here of Madeira and more to come, so hope you'll pop by for another meander and get to know more of the island? Toodloo for now.

I watched the video again and realized it is pretty hilly, narrow roads and people. I can see why you have fallen in love with the island. A Christmas video would be wonderful! My health problems might interfere with traveling on a long flight. I will talk it over with my wife. It would be nice to meet you. We really enjoy your videos... Question: What airport would we fly into?

Hi Hurley Dean. I am very glade you found this video. There is so much to do on the island. I have been going to Madeira for 16 years now with my family. I love this area, which is the Lido. We stay at the Residence which is a time share, but there is a nice hotel called Edan Mar which is part of the Porto Bay Group. You have to be in great shape because there are a lot of hills. I find getting around easy, you can walk, take the bus or a taxi. The food is amazing and the people are friendly. I am from New York

It must have been a hard place to leave. We were there for only 10 weeks and it feels like home. We miss it already so I'd imagine you must do too? I lived there for 10 years and I walked that paths every single day. I worked in several of pestanas hotels around.....memories. I miss the weather. Now I am in UK for 10 years. I miss my home MADEIRA

What a beautiful place. I know this is the end of the world, but I never thought this would be this beautiful in the midst of the wilderness. I am from Northern Vermont, and I often come here to watch the snow go by the forest and to think that I have no life and that I may just be here just for a few weeks. I had not expected to be in a small town within the woods. As we go by, I notice the snow that has piled up in the street. I see a small house. We go in and the woman is just standing there with a beautiful family. As we say hello, I see a large dog come out to look at us. We are out front as the dog passes by and we then just come into the house where I saw them in. It is a wonderful home. We come out and we both start to dance at the end of the driveway.

My recommendation is the rather lovely cocktail bar at the Porto Mare hotel. It's open to non residents and has music in the evening.

Thank you Living Walks for these video's of Madeira. I gave a like and subscribed. I have been going to Madeira for 16 years, but stopped going because the flight is too long. It is just like being there. Can you do a video where you explore The Residence by Port Bay, which is in the Lido Area. I find the people to be friendly and the food to be excellent. Maybe do a food video. There is so much to see. The last time I was in Madeira was in 2019. I do miss it

Hello friend, it's certainly a beautiful island to visit and we'd recommend it. Tourism is of course on of the main industries on the island, as well as agricullture - the export of flower, sugar cane, wickerwork and embroidery.
