I’m 60. My parents were born in the 1920s and lived through the war. We embodied, “Use it up, wear it out; make it do, or do without.” That’s running through my mind each time I run across the “just in case” items. So hard to let go of the scarcity mindset.

When I rip up papers without a shredder, I didvide them up into separate trash bags. You can also soak them in water.

600 items is the amount I roughly own for me and my small child and its the best thing ever. I don't feel like we have nothing we don't need and if we do need something, we buy it when we need it.

I have a disability and chronic pain. My home used to be horrible when I was sick or bedridden and just barely managed in good phases. Having declutterEd and keeping it up for the last 10 years enables me to clean so much faster with so much less effort since I dont need to move stuff for cleaning or putting in the time organizing it. Also it's so much easier to organize any help after surgeries.

So sorry you’re having to deal with chronic pain. So true, decluttering makes it all so much easier 🫶

There is always something to declutter. I've been decluttering for the past 5 years I think, I decluttered at the beginning of this year when I moved, I have items I do use but I plan to move again so I'll declutter one more time to continue downsizing 😅

Hi Madeline! 😀🤗 I love this video!! Well I love all of your videos as you know 😂 but this is so encouraging & motivating! I have so much I’ve needed to declutter & get overwhelmed just thinking about it & keep putting it off. I like how you have shared your method 😀 Did you typically declutter a room a day or a room a week etc? And how often do you declutter? Like once every season (summer, fall, winter, spring) or at the end of each season? I probably need to declutter at the end of summer clothing wise & get rid of what I didn’t need or use in spring & summer & the same at the end of winter (fall gets cold here too) lol. Oh & have you considered buying a firebox to store your important documents in your binder? They say they protect against fire & water in case of fires or flooding.
@madelinehegedus Жыл бұрын
Hi Karri! I’m so glad you liked the video. I don’t have a strict decluttering routine at the moment. To be honest, I do tiny declutters nearly daily, whenever I notice something that I no longer need, I instantly take it out of the house or put it in our outbox. And when I get a wave of motivation like this weekend, I go around the house deeper and grab as much as I can. Oh that’s a great idea for a firebox to keep documents safe, I’ll look into that 💛 Thank you!
@homewithkarri4486 Жыл бұрын
@@madelinehegedus you’re welcome & thank you! 😀🤗 And the firebox isn’t very expensive either. I’ve seen two different types. One is bigger like a safe & square shaped) & they have smaller ones with handles that you can grab quickly & go if need be & smaller in size 😊 Thank you for your inspiration & motivation! And the kiddos are getting so big! Victor is still sweet as ever & Sophia is so precious too! I love her hair! 😂👌 My sister’s hair was the same way! Lol 😀 Hope you’re having a good day! 🤗

I did the same 3 months ago just because we're moving next week and I wanted to fit our 4member family into 25 boxes that I had available. This limited space of 25 boxes really changed my mindset over what is important and what is not. 🫠
