For anyone who’s gonna start commenting “there’s no actual border there” now do you really expect Madelyn to know that? She’s not French, or Italian or from that area, nor is she an expert on it. So she obviously wouldn’t have known, and it’s not like her team would’ve 100% known either since I doubt any of them are French or Italian. That was most definitely her first time ever doing that, and I’m sure her first time losing her passport and obviously when shit like that happens….you’re gonna be stressed, and possibly assuming the worst which is I’m sure what happened with her, which is probably why she thought she had to “illegally” cross into France.

Border control between Italy and France? That's surprising. I cross mainland west european borders dozens of times a year and haven't had to stop at a border crossing in the last 20 years. With Switzerland and UK it's different, but France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark the most you have to do is slow down like 40mph and there aren't even any border staff there usually.

Not entirely true. Denmark has had a temporary border patrol since 2014 (i think) because of the migration issues at the time. If you don't believe please seek out people living in Germany but work in Denmark.
