I have a bad feeling that Rizzo will never recover. He basically has a TBI. I'm still dumbfounded that I was saying "um, wait, he went from a top 10 player to a bottom 10 player before and after the injury, and no one is talking about this?" and it still took the team and media another 6 weeks from that point to ask the same question themselves.

Conigliaro was wearing a helmet, but without an ear flap. Ear flaps started to become popular after that, and the AL started requiring the wearing of a helmet soon after. IIRC Mike Matheny had his playing career ended by concussions. Posey isn't the best example as hip and ankle problems were the main factor in his retirement, not concussions. With TJ surgery the recovery rate goes way down if you get it multiple times. Brian Wilson was pretty much done after his second surgery.
