Side note: with men’s straight leg jeans, if you got some ass and some thighs you’re gonna have to do a trial and error to find a pair that gives you the masculine straight leg look. Like with Levi’s, I’ve learned the 505 fit gives me the best straight leg look. Like my ass and thighs aren’t prominent in the 505 fit like they are in 501s, which end up looking like female bootcut jeans on me unless I go a size or two up. But then it just ends up looking baggy. So yea, if you packing something in the booty area, it may be a journey to find the perfect straight leg jeans

sometimes men’s trousers are much more roomier in the thigh area, that’s why i always look for pants with pleats bc they tend to not be so tight or form fitting

High rise/ mid rise straight leg jeans are my favorite. I like the waist to be snug enough to not fall but then the legs don’t suffocate me. Also just found your channel recently and I love it. When I came out a few years ago (I’m a lesbian) I started dressing more comfortably and I love it. Your style is amazing and you rock.

Have you checked out Both&? To solve for that layering androgynous struggle bus they've designed shirts and tanks that are in a slightly heavier weight cotton so they hold shape and don't cling, cover binder lines, and are in masc proportions that actually fit AFAB bodies.

High waisted pants are the best. I was against them for a while, but I realized I have high placed hip-bones, so they just fit me way better than other pant cuts. Now that is basically all I wear.

thoughts on corduroy? you can get it in straight leg mid rise, vintage pleated trouser, thicc or skinny cords, muted or loud colors, anything really - I think it adds a bit more polish and character to whatever I'm wearing with that extra bit of texture and they're more forgiving than khaki imo

I actually do have a pair of straight leg jeans that are also cargo pants lol. By that I mean it’s just denim straight legs with the front and back pockets being deeper and having two extra pockets on the side. They’re my favorite pair of jeans for when I’m feeling masculine, and my favorite ones when I’m feeling feminine are a pair of flare jeans I have that cling to my thighs and then sprawl away at the knee. Absolutely love it. (I’m genderfluid :D)

I love your aesthetics and appreciate the tipps! However, I have hips, a booty and thighs so straight leg jeans (I have the levi's 724 high rise straight) fit tightly all the way down to my knees and then are more relaxed at the lower leg. I don't hate it, it's just not exactly what I'm looking for. Any advise on how to achieve the relaxed fit with a more curvy body? I don't like low waist so I guess the men's section is not an option for me...

OMG it's like you read my mind. I did a runway show for a resale shop ages ago that had me wearing these trousers that I loved. In retrospect, I should've asked to just buy them at the end of the show but oh well. Been wanting pants like that since. I'm totally gonna remember the pocket tip you gave, and when you mentioned cargo pants, I was brought back to teenaged me, who wore my favorite cargo pants and overalls basically all the time. I just got new overalls (which I'm wearing) but I haven't found new cargo pants yet.

Calling out high school me, for wearing coloured skinny jeans with skate shoes... I'm glad I decided straight leg jeans are better too. I like some tighter stuff for wearing with tall boots (like faux fur winter boots, and those tall lace up combat style boots), but usually I go for straight leg stuff at thrift stores, and trying to make my own. I can't wear high rise stuff due to my body shape because everything just goes right into my belly button when I sit, which is uncomfy. I like a good wide leg pant too, or even flare, which is one thing I love about 70s fashion, everyone wore them, and they're good over boots. But zip offs and cargo pants are totally underrated because they're so useful. Like no purse needed. I also find parachute pants give a good summery genderless vibe. Like elastic or a button at the ankle, and tight at the waist. They're the easiest to make too if you're really cheap like me or want them in a fun print. I love colour, and I find a lot androgynous stuff seems to lack colour, so catch me outside with my bright blue baggy pants in summer. They pair well with smaller shoes or bigger shoes, really anything except for boots.

Cargo pants were originally invented for the military and moved into mens fashion bc of ✨wars✨. So after wars during the 20th century, many men started wearing cargo pants for functionality, then as women moved into the workforce, they started wearing cargo pants as well. Then for hotter climates, the pants would be cropped so cargo shorts were invented. They aren't necessarily supposed to be fashionable, they are for functionality. But you honestly rock them

I'm surprised at your endorsement of trousers with pleats. As a short person with wide hips, I feel like pleats just make me look wider and shorter. What do you like about pleats so much?
