I noticed a lot of Chinese guys using lit up floats and letting them drift all around the Takapuna boat ramp. Didn't see them catch any though

Yeah that’s another passive method of fishing for squid and it does work but generally less catch rate.

Great video, thanks. Is squiding at night an awful lot better than daylight hours?
@AdriftFishing4 жыл бұрын
It certainly has it merits, day fishing for squid can be equally as good if not better at times however, you just got to find them 😉

I'm starting up squid fishing on a basic soft bait rod set up with a squid jig, have gone out 3x with no luck. Is it worth investing in a egi rod and reel set up, how much will this increase my chance of catching squid vs my current set up if I'm just learning?

Hey mate honestly I can’t say it would up your catch - only if you were for example dropping them or struggling with distance… it certainly does improve your game having an egi set however it’s not paramount if that makes sense. The sensitivity in the rod is the biggest plus which does allow you to feel more of what’s going on that you can’t see and giving you that wee bit more distance in your cast will certainly help

Yo mate, Good stuff here! Just wondering about the best ways to store squid in the fridge overnight? Cheers

I used to clean them up, then pack them but have found leaving them intact in an air tight container over night is perfect as they tend not to make so much of a mess once chilled down
