I would like to extend my condolences to the Fries family Although the world lost a loved one, you have lost a family member. From what I read about him. It sounds like he was a good provide. Unlike other country singers, he didn’t/doesn’t get credit for everything he dors

When I was a pilot I did fly off through the nighttime to far off city skylines and the lights below me did look like fireflies. And now it is over and I am a little older and I have gone back to the mountains on my mind. I live in Colorado and, thank God, it all went pretty much like this song.

For all the fun CW McCall and the gang must have had doing some of their crazy songs, this one still gets me. Although I grew up in flatland, MN (you cannot get any flatter than the Red River Valley!), once I visited the mountains, and met some of the people there, this song absolutely tugs at my heart. The orchestration is second-to-none, and this was an amazing song to close an album with! I was just debating with one of my musician friends, and he challenged us to find a more melancholy artist than Jackson Browne. I submitted this one. As far as I'm concerned, I win.

It's really kind of a shame that "Convoy" is all that C.W. McCall is remembered for. He did many beautiful, introspective pieces like "Mountains On My Mind", "Aurora Borealis" and "Columbine"

Jackson Browne had a girlfriend who was a more melancholy artist than he was. Her name was Laura Nyro.

I have never seen the mountains around Ouray CO. I have heard that they have a special feel to them. My father found that feeling in the desert of West Texas. He lived and loved that area for 57 years.

I'm a Colorado native. There's been a number of extend business trips where I have looked out of the airplane window thinking about this song. Work and other trips have taken me almost litteraly around the world. Each time I have come back to CO. To the mountains on my mind.

San Juan Odyssey... The Indian called this land Uncompahgre, and the snow covered peaks were great spirits, to be worshiped, and feared, and loved... the spirits were very old, and they had fought many wars with the eternal winds, and the ageless rivers of ice, but still they remained, awesome, alive, and hauntingly beautiful... these were no mere hills... these were the towering, battle scarred summits of the San Juan. Bill summed it all up real good!

"I've used up all my summers chasing rainbows that I didn't really didn't want to find". As I've gotten older I've seen a lot of things that I would have done differently.

I have my own mountains in little Norway. There I would prefer to listen to this musician- C. W. McCall. Brewski with the Siberians or just a calm evening with bacon and baked beans. It's not for urban people at all, I see. Maybe I could listen to this where-ever I am anyway. Next uniform to try for me is American Civil War Bluecoat. I defect Siberian Mack for a Budweiser.

@@garpamike1419 Thank you. Therefore, it came out before Convoy. I never heard Mountains on My Mind until I heard it on KZbin. I live in the Northeast.
