I've used our Davey Crockett GMG every weekend for the last two months. One thing about the grill is that I have to regularly clean out the firebox (I use my fingers to pinch, or suck out with a Shopvac) and remove excess ash from the previous cook and then drop a few pellets in to have a consistent ignition. Might I ask how often do you clean out your firefox? I think I might make a video of this process myself --- not really a knock on the grill, it lights and heats up easy, and I've used it for a reverse sear ribeye myself, but I finish mine on the girll itself at 450 after a 2 hour smoke at 150 and then resting out while it heats up.

Nice video and the steak looks great but that's not reverse searing. You sear first in the proper reverse process.
@MadHorseBBQ6 жыл бұрын
Ian H ok. From all the videos I’ve watched and the research I’ve done a reverse sear is searing second. Should I be calling it something else?
@wwfgumby6 жыл бұрын
Mad Horse BBQ Cheers mate. All BBQ is good and I think yours is a great result. I'd say it's just normal cooking, although there are so many different methods around there's no right or wrong way as long as the result is achieved. When I reverse I sear hard first to seal the outside and then slow cook through, basically the reverse of your method.It would be an interesting discussion on our BBQ Forum (smokefireandfood.com)
@pwhsbuild5 жыл бұрын
Reverse sear is where the high temp sear is done at the end of the lower temp cook vs high temp sear at the beginning of the cook, then drop the temp for longer cook. Both ways work well, just different methods.
