From my experience fan videos with older-ish generic rock songs are pretty bad, so I came in swinging with low expectations, and OH BOY DID YOU BLOW ME OUT OF THE WATER. This must have been what Erik felt like when Charles dragged him out of the sea because I suddenly gaze upon you with hero-worship in my eyes. I could tell from the beginning that I was gonna dig this (almost wrote 'dick this'; COINCIDENCE? probably). Your use of Voice Overs (and sound mixing) is, how do I put this sophisticatedly...radical beyond belief. I love the opening, that was so chilling and tragic how dare you. I don't know why I assumed this song was going to be your generic I-don't-know-how-to-edit-but-I-want-to-try type of video because looking it now it TOTALLY works, obviously summarized nicely by the "see through my eyes like open doors" bit, which you totally nailed with that Holocaust camp montage (which is actually the one and only time I think I've ever seen that work in a video, most of the time it comes off totally contrived). The way you overlay the scenes tells the story of these two peeerfectly, The pacing was great for the song, not being too fast or too slow, and your use of that b-roll footage that's often overlooked is your ace up the sleeve (i.e. 0:34 - 0:38). And you use that same footage -- like the coordinates, etc. -- SO WELL in the chorus too. Charles' paralleled screams literally broke my heart (how have I never seen that done before? wtf you sly genius). ew this comment got so long and I'm only halfway through the video. BUT YOU MUST KNOW. You must know exactly how you've changed my life. But yes the second verse = crystal clear perfection, and I mean Charle-le-leees. Put the drugs down, Charles. The parallels between Erik kicking his ass on the beach / kicking his ass to get to Raven? You stop that. And that sound mixing at 1:25? Talk about immersion. Literally I watched this video multiple times before commenting, because I just couldn't tear away, you did an amazing job sucking us into the characters and their relationships. "Save me from the nothing I've become" I'm not crying you're crying. Don't look at me. 2:00 - 2:28 literal hearts in my eyes. And Charles' "ERIK" was so bone chillingly appropriate to wrap that up. The parallels, the juxtaposition, the internal movement. I'm super impressed. Have I ever pressed the subscribe button so fast in my life? The answer is no. I can't wait to go check out your other videos and drool heavily over them like the gross person I am.
