I just stumbled across your channel! Fellow L&D nurse here too and L&D is my all time fav!!! My mom has been a nurse for 39 years. I’m 39 btw👵🏻. She was also a nursing instructor with a large university for years. Having been exposed to the nursing field my whole life and every job I had leading up to becoming a nurse was in healthcare, I was as pretty used to it, but she always has said “nurses eat their young”. I’m sure youve heard that by now! You kind of have to have a thick skin for behind the scenes in the beginning but remember to always be yourself! Always be confident and remember, you got this. Always be open to learning and be mindful of what NOT to do-you’ll see all kinds of stuff girl!! You are there for the patients and all the other stuff will fall into place! 🎀

I just ran into your channel and girl, i just needed to come on here real quick and tell you that i have some real good respect for you and the work that you do for your job. I am a ICU nurse Assistant float and one time, where i work at, the labor and delivery floor was short handed and so they needed help, well yes i do love babies and kids but girl, i went to help out on that floor and let me just tell you something, i hated every minute of it. I nonstop kept telling myself, why, just why did i volunteer to help out on this floor. So yes you go girl because they need workers like you. I found out real quick that labor and delivery is not for me at all.

@@AirykaB I feel similarly. I'm 32, dietitian and can't find a decent job. Waited til my kids were old enough so I could go back to school for nutrition and now I feel stuck again. My dream since I was 4 was to be a nurse and I felt too overwhelmed when I started nursing school initially. 😫

I had my preceptorship in the L&D unit and I absolutely loved it! Knew that's where I wanted to be. I just graduated last month and preparing for NCLEX. Hopefully I can land a job in L&D!!! So happy to see you grow your confidence in the unit as a new grad nurse

Hi Madi!! I just wanted to say I have been watching you since you were in nursing school and I was applying to nursing school and now it’s so amazing to see you as an L&D nurse and me just finishing level 1 and starting level 2 of nursing school! I also just had my L&D lab earlier in the week and I COMPLETELY fell in love! I thought I wanted to be a peds nurse but I just completely fell in love with everything L&D and I can’t wait for those clinicals! Do you have any advice to get a job as a new grad in L&D? I know I’m still only in level 2 but I just fell completely and totally in love and I love your videos and can see the passion you have and I want to feel that way when I start as a new grad!

I am a retired L&D nurse. I worked in the student float pool and requested to work L&D as often as they would let me. I worked weekends while in nursing school and the weekend nurses would always request me. Then I did my practicing (last semester in nursing school) in L&D. Those two things almost guaranteed a spot for me in L&D. Good luck in school

Seeing what your siblings did for you makes me miss my brother and other family and friends. I had to move across the country to go to nursing school. I have my stepdad and mom but I haven’t seen my dad or brother in 7 months now. I luckily get to see my brother in July, but it’s going to be a bit until I see my dad and family and friends out west due to how high the cost of flying is right now.

Hey! Your videos are so helpful. Any tips for labor? Like I just got off orientation and my preceptor made me feel like crap and not that great. She is a great nurse and experienced but probably not best teacher. It has increased my anxiety like crazy. Everyone else has said good things to me so it just sucks when I already don’t have much confidence yet.
