YES! I am cleaning as I have this video playing as well! Decluttering - letting go of “things” and realizing less is MORE is slowly bringing me peace, less anxiety, and a feeling of accomplishment! I am continuing to make room for what is important to me - and everything else GOES. I want my space, and my mind back LOL! ❤ Love your channel! ☀️

I was saving my nice white hand towels in our main bathroom (kid’s and guests) and the ones I let our kids use were the dingy ones. Until one day after watching the video about saving your best stuff for someday was lowering our personal standards (and let’s be real what that was communicating to my family), I threw out the excessive pile of old white towels and used the handful of fresh hand towels for my beautiful kids and guests. And wow, I felt the surge of life come into our life. It was one solid step toward a better life here and now. ❤

@MadisunGray how do I declutter when my husband is a self proclaimed "recovering hoarder"? It's challenging when I try to declutter but any space I clear up gets filled with things he brings home? 😢 He is SO SENTIMENTAL.

We have stored (aka ignored) so much thrifted and/or handed down stuff in our garage. We needed a home repair. I had one weekend to clear all that clutter for the workers to show up on Monday. There was no time to sell the stuff. Selling on Marketplace can be so time-consuming. We placed 99% of the stuff on the curb for free. A lady stopped by yesterday and gave me a gift card to a steakhouse as a thank you for all the items she was able to get for free from our pile. Her thoughtful gesture means more to me than any of that stuff ever could.

Your first point really got me thinking. I am always working on my home trying to decorate and redecorate and fix this and that up. My biggest reason for doing so is bc I am always trying to impress my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. They have these beautiful well organized home and are always buying new furniture and remodeling some room in their house. It’s me trying to keep up with the Jones’s. I don’t know why I do it to myself bc they hardly come to visit and when they do it seems like they just point out the things I should do. I didn’t realize that I’m trying to please them. It’s exhausting and expensive. So thank you for making that point. It really opened my eyes.

Exactly what I’ve been practicing since the new year began. It began with decluttering stuff. Then that freed me up in so many ways and I made space for slowing down, being in nature, walking, yoga and creativity. We don’t need stuff. We need space to thrive.

I love that. "This is just stuff." People really hold on to their stuff like it is really important. . .when really, we can't take anything with us in death and all that matters are the relationships we form with others and the way we lived our lives. I also love how decluttering really does help us see God in such a pure way. I have been trying to convince my parents to let me help them declutter their home with them, since they told me in December they celebrated living there for 50 years (and they've never had a garage sale or anything ever). My dad told me that they have paperwork in his garage from 1990. I was like, "Why do you have that?" He said, "I guess it is time I burn that stuff." I have my work cut out for me, but I have decluttered their bathroom and kitchen in the past. I appreciate the things you said on this video. Thank you.

The last two were new insights for me, I’ve been a minimalist for a couple of years and I realized immediately upon starting this journey that this is what I was meant to be doing the entire time and for me, it was nice to be able to finally put a label on it and kind of give myself permission to get rid of things. After years of being a minimalist, I can honestly say I’ve learned so much especially when it comes to not caring about what other people think. That was honestly one of the easiest things for me to do, it it so freeing to not care what other people think, I don’t care to spend my hard earned money on designer purses and clothing when I can buy myself an outfit at Walmart for a fraction of the price. As long as I’m comfortable and as long as my car drives from point A to point B I’m happy. I don’t care what other people think about any of it. From my house and my nonexistent decorations lol to throwing away ALL makeup except eyeliner.. it’s just so empowering. I’m glad you had that incorporated because that is really one of the things I feel that people have the hardest time with because they’re trying to impress other people, sometimes without even knowing it. I’m always looking to read or watch a video and find something new and I’m so happy that I clicked on your video because the vision board is something I’ve actually never done. I’m pretty sure I read a book that told me to do something like that and it’s funny that you called it corny because I think that’s exactly why I didn’t do it.. I honestly just thought ehh I don’t need to do that. After listening to you elaborate on it, I’m thinking that sounds like a really great idea for me to do right now. I might just uncover some things about myself I never knew. And the last one about the 10 second rule is such a great idea it eliminates so much stress, anxiety and overwhelm. You make a decision in 10 seconds and if you’re not even able to make a decision in 10 seconds, then you know it’s something to get rid of because if you really liked it all that much, you probably would’ve known immediately. Just my opinion. I look forward to watching some more of your videos.

I have been declutterring my home for the past few days and watching your video this morning gave me so much motivation to keep going! However, I had to come back to it a few hours later, after standing in the kitchen for 20 minutes, holding a cup that I LOVE, but haven't used in a year and being totally unable to decide what to do with it. Desicion making is super hard for me and your point of how we should stop taking everything so seriously gave me the confidence to just let go of the things I haven't used for a long time. 😅 Because indeed, is it REALLY that big of a deal if I decide to replace something I have decluttered and started missing? No, no it is not! 😄

I like doing something where I take the items I LOVE and set them in front/easy access and pack up a bunch of other ones that I don’t gravitate to. Then I start getting into the habit of using the things l like the most and when I go back to the things I set aside I often just end up feeling ready to donate them. If I need more (2 mugs for example, 1 to use and 1 to wash) then I figure out the things I like about the first item and only buy another one if it fits the same criteria.

Our decluttering really hit with a downsizing that coincided with inheriting an entire house of stuff. Like more than 50 years in the same house from my in laws. So we are still sending items out into the world to new homes as we determine that we don’t have a need for them. Only dining room chairs left now that need to move out. So I started volunteering every week at a thrift shop and every week something makes its way there. Like an appointment for clarity and space that helps my community. 💚

I just found your channel and I am happy to see other Christian women putting their priorities in the right order, especially a young woman like yourself. I am 60, and have struggled for years with the people-pleasing codependent life, thinking that was what it meant to be a self-sacrificing wife, mother, and friend, and now grandmother. The Proverbs 31 woman didn't put herself last, she made her arms strong for her tasks, she found a field and bought it and planted a vineyard. She was capable and independent while being kind and generous. She didn't do it for the praise, but she earned it anyway. I doubt she was whiny and nagging! Your counsel here is inspiring. I love the book, "The Search for Significance" which I read years ago, detailing how we get our recognition, significance, value, and love from our Father, through His Son and not from what other people think of us. I love the saying, "What others think of me is none of my business," but it is a daily battle for me. Thank you for sharing your story. It is a blessing.

hi! love your videos ❤ Could you maybe talk at some point on how you address challenges when living a slow life but still having demands of basic kids’ needs, house cleaning etc? I really struggle with ensuring I can do the ‘chores’ and still be able to be with my kids and enjoy life (my older especially needs a lot of direct connection otherwise he triggers/acts as if his cup is empty). I do involve them in most ‘chores’ but it doesn’t fill them like play and being outside together does. What do your kids do when you work? Thanks!

I love this energy, Madisun! I’ve always sort of gravitated towards your videos because I always noticed your beautiful balance of masculine and feminine energy. I was always surprised to hear you talk so much about femininity because I could clearly sense you had both in balance. Love watching your videos and will definitely be buying your course soon. This video was seriously motivating!

Wow Madi! This video is fire 🔥 I actually get so stressed trying to decide what to do with all the stuff I don’t want just like you said. It drains my energy thinking whether to donate, sell, etc. like I’ve heard before, what would you get rid of if it could magically combust? If it took no energy to get rid of it? That’s is one of the great questions to use when decluttering

It’s really hard for me to do this, because when I was younger my dad always made us get rid of stuff and to this day there’s many things I regret. I threw out all of my yearbooks one time 😢 I wish I still had those. But I also want to do this. It’s a struggle!

I do believe that decluttering my home will give me some of my power back. I am decluttering slowly but I need to be more aggressive with what I’m willing to part with. I have kept things that have been given to me because I don’t want to hurt feelings. I think women especially want to people please. It’s hard for us to change our mindset but it’s worth it. I do think we put too much important on THINGS. I don’t but many do. Also why are you so enlightened at such a young age?🥰

I’ve found that decluttering is a process. I’ve done a whole home declutter and then found that in the following weeks and months, my tolerance for clutter was even lower and I found a second round of things I wanted to clear out. I’m expecting a third wave of things to leave the house during my spring cleaning soon

Yay for decluttering! We are currently moving stuff into our first home and I already went through the decluttering process. I didn’t even know we had so much stuff. It’s such a big relief once you learn to let things go. I’m trying to get my husband to do the same. He holds on to things he has received for free even if he doesn’t even know if he’ll use them. It gives me anxiety. I tell him “are you going to actually use it? If not then put it in the trash!” I’m all for putting things in the trash 😅 unless of course it’s good quality clothes that can be donated. It definitely clears your mind. I know he gets it from his mother.. that woman holds on to everything.

Everything you say makes sense simplicity is the best style of life. I moved from city to the mountains into the woods. Even I brought a lot of stuff with me I still left behind for free majority I have inherited and mine. But I have to be honest there is time when I regreted because I don’t have this stuff anymore and I need it for my daily life and where I live it’s hard to find or very expensive. Specially this days even thrift store prices getting sky rocking. I think the best advice for myself I started to give myself as being creative to redesign or get rid off what if my energy doesn’t feel comfortable with. Another learn how to look at things in the store admire and let go and perhaps get motivated to make your own.

Easy peasy. You have 10 seconds to decide on something you are on the fence about. I use it for things I typically overthink. Like how many pairs of socks is do I need? I have no idea. What I can tell in a couple of seconds is which socks feel good and I love. And which ones need to go elsewhere. I hope this helps.
