I made a list of things that make me happy (even the little things). A clean tidy house, makes me happy, so I enjoy the process of cleaning it. I like to take a walk, so I do that Daily. I love one-on-one time with each of my kids and my husband, so I plan that ❤ Thanks for great content 🙏

I need to learn this! I am stressed so often and can't even START a task because I have so much to do 😭 but I will say, laundry is a task I hate doing. It piles baskets upon baskets. 1. Declutter - lowering your inventory - owning less, reducing so you can relax and not always think of organizing 2. Embrace “mundane chores” - opportunity for natural regulation in your day 3. Call a friend - someone you can share your thoughts with, to be seen and heard 4. Quit something - where you know you would feel a sense of release to let go of 5. Create a sleep sanctuary - a place that brings you rest 6. Daily walks - sets you back into a pace of stillness and rest 7. Meal prepping - setting aside three hours to prep your favorite recipes on Sunday or Monday 8. Sit with your kids - let your kids play and you watch what they are doing, it builds connection 9. Getting dressed everyday - you know what are your favourite clothes, so it’s an enjoyable process and there is no stress 10. Make a celebration dinner (Shabbat!) - create this as an opportunity to connect with friends and family
@prpleskies Жыл бұрын
Love that you said Shabbat! I made a Shabbat dinner with my husband to break a fast we did together and it was sooo special for my family. My littles were confused and asked “what’s the occasion?” but very happy nonetheless to enjoy an extravagant meal together :) it’s one of my favorite memories.

Take action to create solutions.” Wow. Yes this is a gem for me. And I can see how quickly and easily it is to implement. For example, I have been waiting to purchase a plant stand for one of my potted plants in backyard because our dog keeps peeing on it and it’s dying. But instead of spending $40 on a heavy duty plant stand, I had the thought I could just try moving the plant to a corner of the yard the dog never goes. 🤔 and fixes like that will save us so much money. Just have to think a little creatively.

Your videos are so calming ❤ I don’t have a bedroom. The living room is my bedroom as I was a single mom for many years and we could not afford a 3 bedroom so I gave my sons the 2 bedrooms. They are 20 now (twins) and still at home. I have made the living room a super peaceful place and I sleep on a Japanese futon and tatami mat that I can roll up and put away each day. It’s so comfortable to me and has helped my back pain. The little coat closet is my closet. It works because I’m super minimal and I just put a pretty coat tree in the entry for our jackets. I’m going to simply move back in with my elderly parents in a couple years when my sons are done with college and off on their own.

One way of slow living for me is accepting and understanding that my home sometimes will be messy and not clean, and dinner will be a simple meal of omlet/tofu with some cut vegtables and bread. I come home from work and try to give full attention to my kids while trying to be relaxed also. The house chores can wait, and understanding that made things easier for me.

slow living today: less stuff = less chores, less restrictive clothing so my middle doesn't hurt and its not a dread every morning, trips to the park that are low effort high reward, middle of the day naps when child naps, going to the gym because it relaxes me, wearing barefoot shoes so that my feet aren't aching at the end of the day, giving up caffeine to stop depending on a substance and social media to give myself more space and time... etc. all lil things that contribute to slower living, simpler living, peace. :]

I really support decluttering and continue to push myself to do it. The biggest obstacle for me is embarrassment/shame. I have difficulty admitting to myself that this thing that I bought was a mistake. It was the wrong size size, or the wrong color, or the wrong cut or a poor fit, and I am the foolish person who bought it. Once I forgive myself from having made the mistake, it’s easier to let go.

Merci Madi 💛

The best choice I made to assist a slow living lifestyle was going to get a pay raise at work. Because it allowed me to cut down my work hours, so that I could drop off my daughter AND pick her up from school. It’s allowed us to have more time to connect now while she’s small. We enjoy going to the park and walking around the neighborhood. Previously she was in an after-school program and it was just so expensive and she was learning bad words and behaviors. I might go back to full time as she gets older and is able to walk home alone and take care of herself. I’m just so grateful I can do this right now. Living simple and minimally has helped costs as well.

I think North America in particular is sadly on a hamster wheel and it’s near impossible to get off. When I was working I felt like I lived for weekends and especially vacations. Life just passes so quickly and most of us are not enjoying the “NOW”. We’re waiting for a break. My husband retired a few years ago although still has some business on the side that takes a little of his time. He worked incredibly hard his whole life and owned several businesses. He never had a break, working six days a week but worrying about it all seven. When we went on vacation it was never more than a week and every morning he would be on the computer for several hours working while away. As much as I appreciated his work ethic which allowed me to be a stay at home mom, we really missed out on a lot as well. Now we are very financially stable but as I suffer with a chronic illness it is not as easy for me to do things as I often feel sick. There is definitely a balance to life and we have to learn what that is. I think we need to be less fixated on material possessions and more on life’s experiences with family and friends. So happy to see young people who are so enlightened.❤️🙏

I have been mono tasking and finally getting rid of clothes I’ve held onto for 10 years. It feels so freeing.

Okkk I need to know all the things about your new mattress. We have been looking for a long time for a good mattress. This is perfect timing!

I mean it so sincerely that we LOVE their mattresses and all of their bedding! It's amazing to finally have switched to organic bedding AND mattresses! It's one of those last healthy/natural living switches I've made. Ask away with any questions!

A sleep sanctuary sounds great. Our bedroom is our "green room" filled with many plants and a vining one that is climbing over an entire wall. I'd love to have linen sheets. The problem is my husband and I are oily even after showering, and my husband especially is oily and stains the sheets so badly no matter how many times we wash them. I wonder if linen would do better with that than cotton sheets. I want white sheets one day but I handwash everything in our two-family home and have a small drying rack. . .so I get to wash our sheets only once a month at a laundro-mat when it fits our budget. It is annoying because I would love to clean our sheets one or two times a week. One day. It is nice to sit with your kids. When they become teens, take time to have conversations about life and things that they wonder about. I find with my oldest children who are teenagers, we have amazing conversations when we do this. They like to have conversations with me and play video games with my husband. Something I enjoy about slow living is that I can take the time to do something that may take longer than what is average these days. For instance, washing dishes by hand (I've never had a dish washer and have no idea how I would work one). . .I like that I get to think, talk to God, or even listen to a podcast and learn something new while doing dishes. Or washing my windows, or baking bread, or making quilts. . .etc. Thanks for another great video and have a wonderful week.
