I also hate when the FL cheats and people justify it because she has a bad boyfriend/husband, especially when there's absolutely nothing stopping her from dumping him. Most of the time, her boyfriend/husband can't even do anything to her because the ML is strong enough to protect her. And I find it weird that she has little to no trauma from the abuse and once she leaves her partner for the ML, she's completely normal.
@isaa1782
@isaa1782 Жыл бұрын
Fr. There is mostly nothing that stops her from leaving him. In the worst cases the bf isn't even a horrible person but just framed as "oh so boring" compared to the ML (*caugh* After *caugh* Tessa's bf's crime was literally just wearing slippers). But the FL would rather cheat than leaving him bc she knows she can count on her bf to be there, while our bad boy ML will probably dump her cause "he's not good for her" 🤡

YES ON THE CHEATING TROPE. I’ve been writing a book for a while now (probably won’t ever publish, it’s mostly for me), and as I wrote, my male love interest just kinda naturally gravitated to another character. They had better chemistry than my MMC and FMC, so rather than write a cheating trope, I just had them break up amiably, and currently my MMC is dating the other character and my FMC is living her best single life

I only like stuff like that in epithet erased... of course, it's used differently. Examples: " “C’mon kid, let go of the damn thing!” barked the wolf, flailing her around like a dog with a chew toy. " [Context: Wolf (Dont think she has a real name.) is trying to steal a bag from Feenie, who isnt letting go of the bag. Me when She looked like a little lost lamb, politely inviting any nearby predators to eat her. It wasn’t long before she ran into a wolf.] " “It’s the worst!!!” she bleated. " [not sure if this one counts, but considering Feenie, the girl saying this, is often related to sheep... Makes sense. Context: talking about that one eraser thing where it smudges but then you accidentally tear the paper] " Trixie hissed at him like an alley cat. " [Also not sure about this one, but she's being related to a cat so I think that counts. Context: Rick was trying to be friends with Trixie.] and " “Fix him!” the younger sister barked. " [Context: Rick uh... you know we dont talk about the ending of chapter 7.] There's probably more, but these are a couple examples. Epithet erased is so silly i love it,,,, Look at this writing, it's amazing: --- That was Molly’s problem. She took way too much guff! If Molly were a doll she’d be fluff-’n’-stuffed with guff. Trixie had never been in a fight, but she NEVER took any guff. She was a verified no-guff-taker. 100% allergic to guff. Yes-siree-bob. --- All the other books I've read have such serious writing that it makes it boring.

Because i pick and appreciate men who appreciate and treat my friends and family with affection and respect. I would never go for someone who is only sweet to me because that man is a big ol red flag not just to the world initially but will turn out to be extremely toxic to me and will think am his property later on.

I wanna thank you so much for making this video as it is really cheering me up and distracting me from the incredibly painful period cramps I am expiriencing right now 🙏 I've found some of these tropes can work very well if the author explores or challenges them (for exemple I was reading a fantasy series where the main character has a lot of wolf characteristics from being magically bonded to one and the author instead of just saying "he growled" really explored the balance of his animalistic and human side through his body language and habits, which imcluded sometimes growling). Another thing that could work is the narrative challenging the aggressive/possessive behaviour of the character instead of romanticising it. Etc

For the growling thing, I also think this cringy when its in sexual contexts or as just a sound they do randomly, but when its used right it just describes the way their voices sound and it can be extremely effective and (dare i say) cool? Hear me out, in bbc radios version of hamlet there are two great examples of roaring and growling in Act 1 Scene 4 and in Act 1 Scene 5. In 1,4 after the ghost has entered and beckoned hamlet to follow it, his friends do not want him to follow and physically restrains hamlet. he's desperate to follow his fathers ghost, so he when he says the line "unhand me gentlemen" (literally so polite haha) he roars it. There is literally no other way to describe how the bbc radio voice actor said it other than a roar. its loud, has a rough quality to it, and demanding. it's not necessaaaaarily angry, maybe a little bit because he is being restrained, but its mostly desperation to hear what the ghost has to say. In 1,5, the ghost has just said "The serpent that did sting thy father's life // Now wears his crown." where basically hamlet realizes that his father was murdered by his uncle, so he says "O, my prophetic soul! My uncle?" (where "My uncle? is growled) its different from the roar because its not as loud, and a lot more angry. The thing with these is that in the right contexts its really effective when used to describe how they are saying something. if hamlet simply demaned his friend to "unhand me gentlemen" it wouldn't have had that roughness to it, because demands don't have to have that. same with the "my uncle?" part, if he had just shouted that it wouldnt have been rough and angry. and so i think it can be a pretty cool way to describe a voices quality. In hamlet, it doesn't explicitly say that they are saying things in particular ways (unless its sung), that's up to the voice actors and actors on stage, but when they do say things in growly or roaring ways, there really is no other way to describe it haha. so yeah, no random growling for me. absolutely not. but in an angry context? (nothing sexual. growling does not belong in an intimate setting like that for me.) go right ahead. it just fits sometimes haha Edit: i forgot to mention barking, but the only context i think that fits in is if it's some general or leader who is kinda full of themselves are barking out orders. It's like a loud, sudden demand for something, that is what barking is in humans. barks in dogs it also loud and sudden so i suppose thats where the comparison is drawn. other than that... no. (I don't have any hamlet examples of barking i don't think, none at the top of my head at least, since i already used examples from hamlet in this comment hahah.)
