1) Collegiate Shag, St Louis Shag, ,Balboa, of course Lindu Hop, we’re created in US, so there clubs there. In W & E Europe, some videos of Intl competitions were in different countries, so they should have classes & clubs .

If they pick a partner from a hat, how do they know the routine or is it just a set routine that everyone knows.
@TheCollegiateShagChannel3 жыл бұрын
There are no routines here. The dancers are improvising. That's the amazing thing about swing dancing!

@@TheCollegiateShagChannel The dancers are incredible. However that dance style is the Jive. GOOGLE: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA. Shag dance contest are uploaded there.
@longhairedfrique63342 жыл бұрын
This is Collegiate Shag. What is danced in Myrtle Beach is Carolina Shag. There is also St Louis Shag. Different dances.

The Collegiate Shag Channel you’re right, but when you watch it on your screen that clapping is quite distacting.

Stop calling it shag, it’s lindy hop, white people stole this from black people that had to dance underground and renamed it shag. Knock it off and call it what it is
@MoonIsFlat693 жыл бұрын
Oh you mean shag?
@shannonbradleyfisher34052 жыл бұрын
All through the years, good shag dancers can go through a routine with a full can of beer and never spill a drop. So far I haven't seen the shag performed but this jive and the music is awesome
@longhairedfrique63342 жыл бұрын
Definitely not the Lindy Hop. They are both danced to swing music, and I could imagine a Lindy Hopper mixing in Collegiate Shag for fun, but they are different. It's possible the original Lindy Hoppers had to dance underground, but I don't recall any of them saying that. But they definitely never renamed it shag.

Collegiate Shag can be traced back to Charlotte NC 1936 and is different to the Lindy Hop. Today, shag enthusiasts and swing dance historians also recognize an additional shag rhythm that has come to be known as "long double-shag".[2][5] This rhythmic variation is identical to double-shag except that it has four quick steps rather than two. It has been traced to Charlotte, NC, at least as far back as 1936, where it co-existed with the triple and single-rhythm variations.[6] It is commonly believed that double-rhythm shag evolved somewhat later than the others, originating in either New York or New Jerseyin the mid-1930s.[2] And, though double-shag is the most popular form of collegiate shag today, single-rhythm shag is believed to have been the dominant rhythmic pattern during the swing era.[4]
