Nautilus Submarine from Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride | Disney Castaway Cay Bahamas

This is one of the few remaining Nautilus submarines from Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea ride. Many of the original submarines from the ride have been destroyed or are buried in landfills. This lucky Nautilus Sub gets to live out its remaining days on it's home turf, underwater, on this not so mysterious island in the Bahamas. The 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage ride was where the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride is now in Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Most of the snorkeling lagoon at Castaway Cay is pretty shallow, especially at low tide. So I didn't have to "probe depths seldom seen by man" to find the Nautilus wreck underwater.

The sight of this makes me hear that line in the original attraction, "Good Lord, it's one of ours! It's hull has been crushed like an eggshell!" And it makes me furious to this day that the godawful Disney management of the mid-90s senselessly got rid of the signature attraction of Fantasyland. Thanks for sharing this.

Yeah, pretty amazing to see the Nautilus at Castaway Cay. It gets moved around some by hurricanes now so it won't last forever there. The only thing close to it I've seen is at Disney Sea in Tokyo.

That would honestly stroke fear into my heart seeing that in person. I cannot stand sunken vessels, even if it is just for show.

I think it was more intact when the Nautilus was first placed there but has suffered storm damage over the years. I heard Disney kept one sub from the ride and had it on a trailer. No idea where it might be now. Probably in that warehouse with the Ark of the Covenant. This guy built his own working 1/10th scale Nautilus: www.vulcaniasubmarine.com/

@@chocolatesquad1176 It's not a full sub like the WDW ride vehicles. The one in the lake is just a replica of the top portion while the show area that recreates the Nautilus interior in the tradition of the old 1955-1966 Disneyland walk-through exhibit is not inside a sub vehicle replica.
