First Impressions Of Chennai India 🇮🇳

Foreigner in India travels by train to Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu. Look for the hotel that I booked but turns out it is in a rougher area of the city. Still the place is clean and comfy with aircon for a really good price and the fastest internet in the country. With limited time I explore the local streets and try different Indian foods. One place had one of the best ratings in city which looked too good to be true and in the end it really was. I was really hoping that the food would at least be alright but it turned out to be the worst food I've had so far in India. A rarity but what did I expect at this place with so many fake reviews.

Dahi is curd or yoghurt, when biryani is served in India it is completed with yoghurt mixed with onions green chilly and tomato mix called Raita. Any biryani Or rice veg pulav is not served with plain yoghurt it is mixed with either onion, cucumber, potato, or boondi made from chickpea flour.

Youve stayed in the old madras region. Downtown during the colonial days. Narrow roads, busy traffic with all the buzz. You can try somewhere around T Nagar or Annanagar or Adyar which are some of the newer areas in chennai, posh suburbs

Hey Pedro, you need to know one thing for certain. Be a Roman when you are in Rome. Try good healthy hot South Indian food in a good place (which are in good number in good places, not in dungeons). Hot steamed Idly (several varietirs) are very soothing for stomach, it is filling, balanced too.

Bro I'm a south indian, native to both Telugu and Tamil. Strictly avoid even few north indian local words of Hindi. We are absolutely uncomfortable with Hindi imposition that's already happening in our country by the northern migrants. Please ensure you speak only English, with few words of our own languages wherever possible. No body is going to give you additional care for your hindi words. Thairr (the one you had with Chicken Biriyani) is the Tamil word for Curd. The Onion dish you asked for is called "Salad" in local language. Onion + Curd + green chilli + Salt + others

Pedro, if you're still around here in India, I want you to visit Hubli, where I'm living currently. There are pretty good restaurants with good food, versions of western foods with amazing spices and all. Please do visit. But some places might be sketchy, like there always is one in every place, but, apart from that, Hubli is really good. Still developing, a small city, but good.

Traveling to know a country isn't staying in luxury hotels and lavish restaurants ! It's street foods or basic restaurants and local trains that makes the travelling ! You are doing it right bro! Hotels in India is are very expensive but conditions are not that great. There are good and clean budget hotels but very rare !!! You rather stay in budget hotels just to have a good sleep and a wash !!!! But you better browse for budget hotels online carefully.
