Honestly though, as someone who primarily plays jazz and has a pedalboard for my sax, I think tuning down 5 half-steps on my alto sax on this would be cheaper than buying a tenor sax.

The only way you’ll truly undertand how good this pedal is, is by having one. I own a ESP LTD MH-1000 EverTune and down tuning is not a thing with this kind of bridge. Another thing you need to understand is that when you change your string guage, tuning or both, you need to setup your guitar all over again. The action, intonation ect… will changed if you change tuning and string guages but this pedal make it so you dont have to go through any of that, especially when you just want to play a song then go back to whatever tuning your guitar is setup.

I know people who change tunings frequently with an Evertune. yes its not as quick and easy as a hard tail, but it can be done relatively easy (but I had a choice in LTD deluxe Arrows with ET or not and picked the not). I mean it's not a FR. Saying all that, as you said you don't have to worry about intonational changes and other issues when using this pedal and probably the biggest reason to get one of these. I often change around from drop tunings to lower standards.

If you’re using this pedal in a rock or metal situation… make sure to use a tube screamer or overdrive etc. that will help boost the tone when you’re dropping it down real low. I compensate with drive on the pedal and my amp for tone. Also if you’re playing flat a half step you may hear your guitars natural tuning mixed with the pedal tuning …if your volume is low.

As a Floyd Rose user on basically 90% of my guitars, the drop tune pedal by Digitech is one of the best investments ever. I love Floyd’s and having a guitar collection I try to keep tight and “used” (not a big collection where instruments don’t get touched). This is one of the best products. I have side by side Jackson Dinkys and soloist. Ones I keep in standard E and its partner that is in drop D. That way when I selected the pedal I can have D standard or Drop C and all the other varients of tunings one could need. I would like to do get the whammy version someday. @@MadManMusic yes. And it can be a true artform to build a massive board and find ways to add more pedals and extra features. And make it all look pretty. Looking pretty, I'm still working on but my pedal board always turns heads. At least I'm able to hide all the cabled mess under the hood. Next I wanna get it all under control. Also when I'm building a board, I find that pedals that dictate how I have to build the board just because of their size, ill forget about other important aspects. Ill make mistakes on pedal placement and planning ahead. So I'm learning to avoid huge pedals when possible. I'm starting to put my foot into the world of pedalboard design. My first board was far from a marketable product but I'm over here making mistakes and learning. I'm on my third "finished" board right now and preparing for number 4. I plan to make this next one pretty. I got my construction worked out. Time to break out some paints and get creative and master cable management. If things go well I have an innovative new design that could change how cable management is approached when building pedal boards. And like many good ideas, this one is so simple its stupid.

Great demo of this cool pedal! I could totally see someone using this video to decide if they wanted that pedal or not (that's what I've done before; KZbin is awesome for that). So, from my experience in playing tuba in classical music and bass guitar & cello in classic rock cover bands; once you get past a certain lower point on the sound frequency chords and intervals other than a perfect 5th (7 semitones) sound really warble-y no matter what. Even if you had multiple bass guitars all with perfect setups to play chords with each other, if they play them low enough the chords start to get really muddy. I could have misinterpreted what you said in this video, but it's not really the pedal that is causing that muddiness; it's just how low frequency chords sound. Otherwise killer demo, definitely got a sub from me! Looking forward to more vid's!

Hey thanks for the compliment! You’re absolutely right. I think for both guitar and bass, this pedal is still the most useful when you keep it within 1-2 semitones. It pitches down every string equally, so it all depends which tuning you begin in. If you start in E Standard, you will have to play E standard power chords no matter how much you pitch shift with the pedal. Likewise, if you start in drop D, you'll continue to play drop d power chords after pitching down.
@JulioHernandez-vi9to7 ай бұрын
@@shemaghs9984 doesn’t answer the question.since both e standard and d are considered power chords regardless the question is do you play the chords as if it’s still in e standard or do you switch to playing the day d tuning as a power chord using all 3 fingers or do you just switch to playing as if it’s d tuned which you only need one finder to activate the power chords is the wuestion
@MadManMusic7 ай бұрын
The pedal will “drop” the pitch of any signal going into it. So it will not change your “type” of tuning. If you’re in standard tuning, you will remain in standard tuning. 🤘🏼😜
@JulioHernandez-vi9to7 ай бұрын
@@MadManMusic that doesn’t answer the question I’m not talking about the running I’m talking about the finger placement I have an understanding of the pedal and what it does but y’all fail to answer the finger placement.so the question is if I’m in e standard and I’m using 3 fingers to play power chords like most players do.then I hit the pedal and drop to D.do I play the chords like if e standard with all 3 fingers or do I switch to play it as if it was d tuned and only play using one finger to press the power chord like I’m d tuning.so the question isn’t about that it’s about finger placement🤦♂️
@shemaghs99847 ай бұрын
@@JulioHernandez-vi9to If you are in E standard and use the pedal to drop to D, it will not exclusively pitch down the low string in a conventional Drop D sense; it will pitch shift all of the strings down, which means you'll continue to play in E Standard power chord formation (3 fingers).

Great video mate! Quick question, can we switch between the drop tuning and standard tuning by pressing the footswitch? Coz some 7 strings songs need the lows for the bottom strings and the highs for the solo stuff on the top strings.
@MadManMusic4 ай бұрын
Not "drop" tuning, meaning Standard to Drop D leaving 5 of the string unprocessed. I don't think we're there yet as far as pitch manipulation.. at least not in such a small pedal form. 🤘😜

Just bought one after watching this, lol. All my guitars have floyds, this thing will be clutch.
@alanr96344 ай бұрын
the "tone" isn't holding up as well because you have things eq'd for your standard tuning - when you use this pedal you have to plan ahead. chords just get sloppier the lower tuned you go, that's why bass isn't playing chords the whole time.

Considering buying this, as ive got a floyd rose set to d standard its to much of a hassle to change tunings for one song just to go back to my original tuning. Would you recommend this being something i could use to go from d standard to c standard?

Yup! It will work really well within that range. 4 half steps down started to get a little wobbly… but depending on what style of music you’re playing really all of the options are usable in one way or another. But from D to C standard, it wont even break a sweat! 🤘🏼😜

@@MadManMusici agree with you. It's pretty transparent in a standard e guitar . But i guess you wouldn't equalize a standard E 6 setting the same way you would EQ an 8 dropped string guitar.. so if you would use it to it's extreme that would be a factor to take in.. i had a whammy several years ago.. i never used it past 3semitones .. but when I used the lower (at least my lower tuning) i instantly use another preset with different gain and EQ in my pedalboard to compensate a little the sound post whammydroped Even if you use an 8 string guitar the same EQ that I use in my 6 just doesn't fit the same ..
