Hello it's me again and I liked this mv So I wrote an analysis again Sorry if there are mistakes I translated it all with internet translation So, about lyrics. The staircase itself is the embodiment of the girl's mental state. It is worth noting that the higher the step, the worse the mental state. And the girl, apparently, is just starting to climb it, because her movements are light and carefree. However, since she has already started to rise, it means that the path has already begun - perhaps she is in a mild stage of depression or simply not in the best condition. Selfharm is one of the ways to "alleviate" mental suffering (although far from the best), overlapping mental pain with physical pain. And a painful fall down the stairs, in theory, should throw you back a couple of steps - to ease your mental state. However, you can fall on one step, and stay at the same level, and face forward, on the contrary, worsening it. Actually, as with selfharm. Again, the comparison of climbing stairs with dancing, hinting that it is these "dances" (constant self-hatred) that move her further. The staircase is endless - as there are no limits to how much the main character can suffer. It is noteworthy that she is moving "towards the devouring darkness." The old clip on the TV, which flashes more than once in the clip, seems to me not only a reference to the original version, but also a kind of soft liner to the fact that the story of the heroine girl is not so rare, and that the problem itself, touched upon in the song, is quite common. The pointe shoes and the girl's dress are initially clean, symbolically indicating that the heroine is not yet so high on this ladder of despair, reinforcing the text. Even at the very beginning, you can notice that the girl is dancing alone. And there is no devil dancing next to her. In particular, this suggests that the "demon" is an image embodying the psychological problems of the lyrical heroine. Several times in the clip there will be a reverse shot of the heroine walking up the stairs. And this brings the viewer to the realization that the heroine is unable to get out of her own suffering, unable to get rid of her inner "demon". Speaking of the demon... It's easy to see that the frame often jumps between the girl and Kyuho. They have synchronized movements... And the most beloved and remarkable detail: at the end, the girl is replaced by Kyuho in a loop. With the death of the heroine, Kyuho also died - the image of her psychological problems. That is, by killing herself, she also killed what drove her to suicide. What happens if you compare the text and the clip? And it comes out in a somewhat allegorical way, a story about a girl who could not cope with her internal problems, slowly and painfully absorbed in her own self-hatred.

Stairway was a song I've always wanted to see re-recorded. The original version is very raw but the re-recorded version takes it to a whole other level. It always was a very melancholic, depressing yet somehow very beautiful song, especially with the added piano in the background. The more "perfect" production turns a raw song into something beautiful. Lyrically, the song speaks from the view point of someone preparing to take their own life. The metaphorical "stairway" being a platform for someone to climb atop of to hang themselves off of. As they climb up the stairs, the feelings of despair, dread and depression overcome and envelope our main character. They stagger every step, the feeling of despair overcomes them and the urge to take their own life becomes stronger as the feeling of loneliness envelopes them with each thought. Yet somehow, it's also beautiful as with the lyrics "she dances up the stairway of pleasure and despair" evoke a sense of beauty in suicide. It's depressing but somehow encapsulates beauty in a very tragic act. Our main character knows what they're doing is painful, yet they find beauty in their suffering and they want to die in a graceful and elegant manner. I am really blown away by this remake and MV that I had to do a bit of a lyrical analysis on it. This re-recording really made me feel so many emotions especially as someone who suffers from mental health problems. Madmans Esprit is a band I always have admired and appreciated for talking about problems I can relate to and I really cannot wait for more releases in the future. Thank you Kyuho, Juho, Geon, Somyul and Limu for making a masterpiece of a song. This is my first time commenting something like this so I hope my little lyrical analysis makes sense. This is just how I interpet the song haha

日本盤CD「5 old scars」リリースおめでとうございます。そして、ボーカルKyuhoのソロプロジェクトであったMadmans Espritが5人のメンバーで正式にバンドとなり進化を遂げたこと、本当に嬉しく思います。このEPのタイトルの「5」は全５曲で構成されている事と、これから新たに5人のメンバーでMadmans Espritが爪痕を残していくという決意や展望の意味もあるのでは？と自分勝手に受け止めてしまいました。それくらいわたしはバンドとしての新生Madmans Espritを歓迎したい気持ちです。「階段」がリメイクされることは喜ばしいと思う反面、原曲の不穏な雰囲気が洗練されて、正直戸惑いを感じてしまうのではと不安もありました。時にリメイク作品は、原曲への親しみや愛着の強さから違和感が勝ってしまい馴染めないことも多々あると思うのですが、この「階段」にはそんな懸念を全て蹴飛ばされた感覚でした。期待を裏切らないどころか、常に期待以上を見せつけてくるMadmans Esprit。これ以上の存在が今のわたしには見当たりません。来月の日本公演楽しみにしています。
